Dell Match Play 2019

For the second year in a row, I got to go to the Dell Match Play! We have had such a fun time going, and I'm so glad Dell signed another contract to keep the tournament in Austin - more years of going in our future!

This was also an exciting weekend because Paige SPENT THE NIGHT AT MY PARENTS'! She is the best baby ever...except when it comes to sleep anywhere but her bed, and the grandparents have been scared to have her stay over. So Brent cashed in his 2019 Christmas present from my parents and asked them to do it. My mom said yesterday she was glad Brent pressed them to do it and get over their fear!

And that was the extent of the golf watching that I did, ha. Lots of eating, drinking, and chatting with my girlfriends the rest of the day.

After the tournament, we went to our hotel, got cleaned up and went to dinner. And then half of us walked to a bar nearby and sat at a table next to Tim Riggins...well, technically Taylor Kitsch. If anyone is a fan of Friday Night Lights, you'll know who I'm talking about. I have only seen like 3 episodes - which is funny given then filmed it in Austin and used my high school and hometown as the 'town' and based their uniforms on my HS teams...but I've not finished the show. BUT Susie LOVES the show, so she was freaking out that we sat beside him for hours ha. Never spoke to him or anything but took shady stalker pictures. {grin}

The next morning, Susie needed to work, so we all went to Starbucks to have breakfast. The boys left after awhile to go to a bar - they couldn't hang in Starbucks for too long. I read a book while Susie worked, so it was heavenly ha.

We stayed in Austin most of Friday and then headed to our side of town in the afternoon and ate dinner and watched basketball and then went to another friend/neighbor's house...and things got a little silly.

We stayed up way later than we should have, so sleeping in on Saturday wasn't quite as fabulous as I hoped originally. BUT when we got the kids, we found out Paige had done really great and was so proud of herself for sleeping at Babs and Pops like the big kids do! She didn't fall asleep until after 11:00 and was up at 7:00 but slept through the night once asleep! Yay!

And that was our great adventure with this year's Dell Match Play. Can't wait to go again!!

Life Lately

What has been going on with the Gurleys lately {besides not blogging much this week}?? Well, let me fill you in!

I never blogged about going to see Newsies a few weeks ago with my mother-in-law. Years ago, I had season tickets for 2 seasons but stopped because I didn't enjoy enough of the shows being offered. My mother-in-law kept up with it and occasionally I get the opportunity to go with her still. Well, Newsies was AMAZING! Unfortunately, the national tour ended in Austin, but if you ever have the chance to see it - IT IS A MUST DO!

We didn't get to see my dad for a few weeks when he was sick and first out of the hospital. I think you can tell that Drew missed her Pops when we finally got to see him!

{Sidenote - girlfriend is doing pretty good with her sleeping in panties. We had a few bad nights in a row, but we started getting her up before we go to bed for 1 more trip to the potty - that has been huge! I think we have had 1 accident in the last 10 days.}

We had a family movie night and introduced the kids to The Sandlot.

Bath time together - we haven't done this in a while and I remember why.

That's a little peak into what we've been up to! We have a busy weekend planned, and I'm going to tackle a lot on my October goals list. Whoo-hoo!

San Diego Trip - Part 1

Whew! We are home after our trip to San Diego! I have the greatest in-laws who have taken us on a lot of trips {NYC girls trip, The Flying L 2012, The Flying L 2013 {no pics apparently on the blog, ha}, and Pebble Beach}, and this was another great one.

We left on Wednesday and packed a lot into our 5 days. I'm going to split this into 2 posts because I took a TON of pictures! Today I'm going to focus on our first 2 days: Wednesday - traveling, visiting Hotel del Coronado {the kids first time to see the beach}, getting settled in the amazing house we stayed in, and Thursday - Legoland!

Wednesday

We lucked out and had a direct flight that left mid-day. This was Drew's first flight and the first Trent would remember {he went to San Francisco when I had a work training when he was 4 months old}, and they were both super excited.

Drew asked about 100 times 'Are we flying yet?' even when we were still on the ground. So cute!

We were very lenient about screen time on the plane, so the flight was very nice, ha. 

Brent and I had 2 suitcases, 2 car seats, carryons, and a set of golf clubs. It was a bit of a challenge to carry everything. We even put the kids to work! {grin}

Our first stop was the Hotel del Coronado! It's such a beautiful facility, close to the airport, right on the beach, so it's a natural first stop. 

The kids went NUTS over the ocean at first. 

We didn't bring their bathing suits down from the car because I really thought they would think the water was too cold. Well, they didn't! So we were very classy and stripped off some of their clothes and let them run around half-dressed.

Then they were completely over the ocean. It was like a switch got flipped. The sand was really the big culprit. We got their clothes changed, bought them ice cream, and met up with everyone else who was having a drink. 

Much happier in dry clothes with ice cream headed his way!

I splurged and had an amazing COKE. The kids were tired and hungry at this point, so the iPhone saved the day.

After hanging out at The Del for a bit, we headed to the house we rented. We unpacked, decided on rooms, and made a grocery list! The dads took the kiddos swimming in the backyard while the women hit the grocery store. Brent's dad had the pleasure of going back to the airport to pickup Brent's nephew whose flight from Maryland was delayed by several hours, ugh.

We made hamburgers that night and turned in early!

Thursday

On Thursday, everyone but Brent's dad hit up LegoLand.

Of course it wouldn't be a Gurley trip without some Starbucks!

I was looking at stuff with Drew and realized Brent, Janet, and Trent had disappeared. Turns out he was a little overwhelmed with everything, so they went to walk until something caught his fancy. Drew and I made the best of being abandoned!

We went on a little river ride with lots of Lego fairy tale displays.

There was a little section called 'Fun Town' that was great for Drew's age. She could have played in here a lot longer, but I was antsy to get my family back together.

We finally got back together with our men {and Nana} and enjoyed some water and a snack.

At this point, our little ones were done. We connected with Brent's brother and family for a bit, and they were going to stay longer, but we decided to head back to the house.

Both kids fell asleep in the car {and Drew slept for 2 more hours at the house}, but T refuses to admit he fell asleep, ha.

When we got home we spent a lot of time in the pool, and when the other Gurleys came back to the house, we made lasagna and had s'mores. Yum!
