Sunday Dinner
After the Pretty Girl Shower, I went back to my parents house for a fabulous dinner. Patty (and Miles) didn't make the shower (he wasn't feeling great that day), but they were at my parents. We had a great dinner, and I got lots of lovin' in on my cute, cute, cute nephew.
Babs and Miles

Pretty Girl Shower
I had my first shower this weekend - my mother-in-law's girlfriends from high school - The Pretty Girls. They all went to Reagan together back in the 70s and still live in Austin. Many of their kids all went to Pflugerville schools together too. I had a great time and got LOTS of great stuff.

Nursery Update Part 3
Yesterday our chair rail was installed!!! I absolutely love how Baby Boy's room looks so far. I think it's going to be amazing when it's all done. Today our carpets are getting cleaned (for the first time since buying our house 3+ years ago), then this weekend I will putting together furniture - can't wait.

Check Up
Patty had her 6 week check-up at the OB yesterday, and I volunteered to go along to entertain Miles (I know, I know...I am SO selfless). He was really tired but didn't want to sleep, so I got the most adorable picture of him all bundled up in his carrier as we were leaving. (Patty is doing great - according to the doctor...and me.) Patty treated me to La Madeline after the appointment, which was so delicious. Thanks sis!

My Pregnancy
Since this is sort of supposed to be an online journal, I wanted to write down a few things about my pregnancy (to date). I was shopping for a baby book today, and it got me to thinking about how my pregnancy has been...and I don't want to forget this. I love being pregnant; knowing what my body is doing right now is so amazing! I really feel so special. :)
During the first trimester, I was nauseous on-and-off all day long (most days). I only threw up a handful of times though, which was nice. I also HATED water, and I had to force myself to drink it. I didn't crave any particular food, but I wanted starchy foods (baked potatoes, pizza) because they seemed to keep my stomach a little more settled. I was also really tired...a pretty stereotypical first trimester.
During the second trimester, the nauseau settled and the sciatica started. There were a few times my back hurt SO bad I had to crawl through the house - which would always make me laugh. I've gotten a few massages though and that has helped (and made me oh so happy). I had to reduce my workout routine A LOT. Basically all I can do now is walk and some light weights (not that I do either very often). I didn't really find the 'energy' a lot of other mothers talked about; I was still really tired - not as tired as during the first trimester but still tired. I had a little bump around 16 weeks and really felt like I was showing around 22 weeks.
So far the third trimester hasn't felt much different from the second, but I know that will change. It is harder for me to get up and move around (I can't fit through our bathroom doors without opening both, which makes me laugh). I've had a little bit of heartburn, and everyone is a witness to my swollen feet, but nothing bad yet. I don't think I've had too many irrational moments, but I do cry more (which is hard to believe). Anything related to kids, and especially sons, can start the waterworks.
Seems like a pretty typical pregnancy, for which I am extremely thankful. I had an appointment on Thursday and everything was good - weight, blood pressure, baby's heartbeat... I meant to take pictures yesterday but forgot, so I'll do that in the morning. We'll see how 30 weeks looks!!

Avenue Q
Today was another 'Broadway Across America' play - Avenue Q. Basically, going into the play, I knew that it had puppets in it and was supposed to be a little crude. With songs like 'If You Were Gay' and 'The Internet is For Porn', you can imagine what the show was like... I really enjoyed it but question whoever said that it was appropriate for teenagers. The puppets enjoying a 69 was just a little much for me when thinking about my 14 year-old nephew! Anyway, if you have time over the next few days, you should go check it out!! It was a million times better than Spam-a-NOT. We're halfway through our plays, and I think they're only going to get better - Rent, Mamma Mia!, and my favorite - Wicked!
Class of 2031
Because I will never be able to do this with my son, feast your eyes on this deliciousness. Gig 'em! (This is Connor - Hagan's son.)

G Diapers
I am the Recycling Nazi. I get so upset at others when they don't recycle or are really wasteful (I'm not trying to get on my soap box here, I promise, just follow me for a little bit...). I had even decided to cloth diaper Baby Boy. SO many other mothers (co-workers, my sister, etc.) would say 'Oh, we'll see how long that lasts once the baby gets here', which only increased my resolve to cloth diaper my son. I figured it wouldn't work perfectly, but even if I was able to do it half the time, that'd be something. Well, Dena and her sister found something that might be even better than cloth diapers - mainly because I think I can get my family and friends to support me on this one. Introducing...G Diapers! Apparently, these are half cloth and the rest is flushable AND biodegradable!! I still want to use cloth diapers, but I think this will be a great compromise for when cloth isn't practical. I'm so excited!!!

Miscellaneous
Random stuff to talk about today... I have had some big deadlines at work (one today and one tomorrow), so my life the last few days have revolved around work, which is SO not exciting!
That's about all I've got for now!!
Kristen is here and staying with, which is so fabulous! Last night we stayed up late talking and found out this morning that we kept Brent awake we were so loud. Oops!
Janet (the fabulous mother-in-law, I might start calling her FMIL) is ordering the fabric for the nursery soon, we have decided on how it is all going to look, which is a huge relief. It took a LOT of time to figure out which fabrics would go where on the quilt, valence, bed skirt, bumper, etc. We also have made a change in the nursery. No longer doing bead board - painting the room 2 different colors with a chair rail. Here are the 2 colors:
We had a great Easter weekend and spent time with my family on Saturday and Brent's on Sunday. Miles slept almost ALL day on Saturday, but I got this cute picture of him sleeping. He was wearing an outfit I bought him, and he looked just precious.
That's about all I've got for now!!

Nursery Update Part 2
My mother-in-law got an entire coat of paint on in the room yesterday (her original goal was to just get the edges done), so I took a few pictures to show the progress. We're going to have a chair rail and bead board on the bottom of the wall. It's coming together!!
She also brought over the fabric samples we ordered for his bedding, and we've pretty much decided what fabrics we're using, now we just need to figure out where they're all going...
I just hope we can get it all together now. :)

Nursery Update
Brent and I bought Baby Boy's nursery furniture last night! Big step for me. I can be really indecisive when it comes to big purchases - I think and think about it, I ask everyone else's opinion, I think and think some more, I change my mind and drive everyone around me crazy. I actually switched our crib at the last minute in the store, which I'm really glad I did. I was explaining to Brent why I was on the fence on the one I'd put on hold versus the other style in the store, and he decided for me. Thanks honey!! {And if you're thinking this looks oddly similar to what Patty has, you'd be right - I copied my big sister - as usual - and got furniture by the same manufacturer.} My fabulous mother-in-law is going to start painting today, so there should be some real progress in the next weeks.

Bump Watch 2009
28 week baby bump - getting big now - although I know I have a long way to go. Baby No Name (as Allison calls him) is getting more and more active - I love feeling him jump around inside. Sometimes I really wonder what he is doing in there.
I'm officially in the 3rd trimester now and going to the doctor every 2 weeks. It seems like time is flying by and going so slow all at the same time. We are going to buy our nursery furniture tonight, and my fabulous mother-in-law begins painting the nursery tomorrow. It's all starting to come together...except his name, of course!

1 month
It's hard to believe he's been here for 1 month...but he has... Happy 1 month birthday, Miles!! I had some firsts with him on Saturday - my first time babysitting him, my first time giving him a bottle, my first (and second) solo diaper change. He refused to sleep, so we just hung out and looked at each other; it was fantastic. I love this little guy.

12 Years
12 years ago today...
This guy became my last boyfriend.
This guy became my best friend.
This guy became the future father of my children.
This guy made all my dreams come true.
This guy stole my heart and kept it.
I know this 'anniversary' doesn't really count anymore, but it will always hold a special place in my heart...

Thankful
I have so many things to be thankful for. This is NOT one of them. (I kind of can't believe I'm putting this photographic proof on the web because it's mortifyingly disgusting, but it's really not that surprising...if you know me...)

Babies
Many things to note today:
2. My own son has caused my feet/ankles to swell. Last night I had no sign of an ankle bone. Dena laughed so hard she cried and almost wet herself. Will this stick around for the next 3 months? I meant to take a picture last night of how bad/hilarious they looked, but I didn't. Lucky you for not having to see the atrociousness.
3. I am:
You should too!
1. My nephew is precious, and I have evidence. Doesn't it look like he's starting to fill out? Getting a little chub on his cheeks - I LOVE it.
