Life Lately - February

I haven't done a Life Lately post in a while, and now that I'm not doing a Photo-a-Day post {sorry Kathryn!}, I think I'll start doing these periodically again.

Life with boys!

Life with girls! {grin}

Our tiny dancer started ballet in January!!

Tiny ice creams!

This is 2

My baby cousin had a baby! LOVE!

Brent and his girls - be still my heart!

And I'm dead

Future spouses?

Playing with friends

That's one way you can wear a jacket??

I'm sure when she's 5 and we're trying to get her to stop sucking her thumb,
this will be annoying. But it isn't yet by any means!
And she took home my baby, Victoria, from my parents' house -
so sweet to see Victoria in her crib.

Drew loves to make silly faces

'I driving!' EVERY day before school.

We went away for the weekend with a few couples. One of our friends is a HS basketball coach and we went to watch his team's last game of the season and then spent the night at a rented house. We had a great time!

Excited to be away from our children??

Yes, we took shots at this little dive bar, ha.
No, we weren't proud of the Rebel flag in the background.

Cleaning up at Nana's house

Screen time!

Apparently the only picture I took at Mayer's birthday party, oops.

3 boys...3 devices. Sigh.

Putting those same boys to WORK!

Mornings can be rough!

BLUEBONNETS ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nana and I helped Drew's class with a project for the school's kindness campaign.
We made tie blankets for a local foster care organization.
I love their school! {If you want to donate to it, let me know, ha!}

Paige's first selfie...hahahahaha

Birthday party shenanigans. Life is better with cake, am I right?

It's been a while since I got all of them in the same picture.
Love these 3 so much!!

Whew! That's the last few weeks of life in our house!!

Oscars 2019 Fashion Recap

I watched all of the Oscars and thought I did pretty good with my votes! I was right on 3 of the 5 and thought it was a good show. ALTHOUGH Monday morning I saw all these articles about how terrible Green Book really is in that it doesn't move the racial discussion forward at all, is the same tired story we've been telling in Hollywood for a long time, etc. Made me feel bad for liking the movie, ha. ANYWAY, let's talk about fashion because even if you disagree with what I liked or didn't like, you can't accuse me of liking a movie that sets us back 20 years!

Allison Janney
I feel like this is almost amazing,
but I'm not really a fan of THAT deep of a cut at this age.

Amandla Stenberg
I thought this was very flapper-esque and fun.
Amandla is 20, and I love how this looks on her.
It's almost revealing but it isn't, and I love her hair and makeup, and the simple accessories - the dress doesn't need anything else.

Mahershala Ali and Amatus Sami-Karim
It kind of looks like he's wearing a ski cap? And his glasses are very 80s, no?
I think he looks very dapper {minus the ski cap and glasses},
and I'm confused about her outfit. I'm probably not cool enough to get it!

Amy Adams
She looks great, but it's very safe - I feel like we've seen this silhouette a bunch from her. It's like Sofia Vegara ha. But that doesn't take away from the fact that she is rocking this dress!

Amy Poehler
I don't really understand the need for women to dress like men.
I think a beautiful jumpsuit is awesome, but I don't think this is flattering at all.

Angela Bassett
My only complaint is that it's wrinkled.
I love the sleeve and fit and her makeup and earrings and her ARM MUSCLES.

Awkwafina
See what I said above.

Brie Larson
I love the dress, I don't like her hair. Especially the roots.

Chadwick Boseman
If the jacket were a normal length, I could totally get onboard with this.
I love the fabric of the jacket, but I don't like how long it is.

Chris Evans
Couple of thoughts:
On one hand, I think he looks nice and the jacket is just the right amount of fun. But another part of me also thinks I would die laughing if Brent ever wore something like this. Also, his pants are too short and too tight - which is a giant pet peeve of mine. Mostly I like ha.

Christian Bale and Sibi Blazic
They look like this EVERY award show. Beautiful but we've seen it!

Constance Wu
Beautiful. I love everything about this.

Emilia Clarke
She looked amazing on the red carpet, and I loved the dress even more when she presented - the lights hit it so perfectly. Go Khaleesi!

Emma Stone
I had to look at this a few times to make a decision - at first I wasn't a fan, but it's really grown on me. I love that she tries daring things, and it usually works!

Glenn Close
I read that her dress weighed 45 pounds! Crazy, right?

Henry Golding
PERFECTION.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez
I'm so happy she is covered up, like BEYOND happy.
They look so great, love this so much!

Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet

They are the cool couple I will never quite understand, but I think they look great together. I love that they match!

Jennifer Hudson
OMG, she looks amazing. I love the asymmetrical sleeve and the ruffle, just enough of a slit to be flirty without going overboard, her makeup and accessories are simple because the dress is BAM by itself. LOVE.

David and Jessica Oyelowo
Probably my favorite couple - I love that she isn't famous but still looks awesome. A lot of times the non-famous one {I think} doesn't look nearly as good, and Jessica looks awesome.
{edited to add - I looked her up and she's an actress in England...but still...}

Adam Driver and Joanne Tucker
I think Adam looks really good, although I wish his pants were an inch longer, but his wife underwhelms me.

Joe Alwyn
Taylor Swift's BF needs some better tailoring, right?
We can see too much of his sleeve, his pants are too short.
Almost...but not quite!

Kacey Musgraves
I think I shouldn't be the one to comment on Kacey. I love her so much that I'm conflicted on this - I don't really like it, but I want to so badly, ha.

Lady Gaga
I don't love this, but I think it's the best she's looked?
I also really liked the dress she performed in! And that necklace...DAMN.

Letitia Wright
She is so petite, this looks so good!

Linda Cardellini
Nope. She looks like a Playboy bunny.

Rami Malek and Lucy Boynton
I think they are just really stinking adorable.

Marina de Tavira
Beautiful! I love the soft hair and fun earrings and the color of the dress is great!

Maya Rudolph
Yuck, she looks like a tapestry.

Melissa McCarthy
This isn't my favorite look of hers,
but she looks much better than Amy Poehler and Awkwafina.

Michael B. Jordan
He is so handsome and the jacket looks amazing.
BUT...he was hit by the short/tight pants syndrome, boo.

Michelle Yeoh
Yeow is right - love this!

Octavia Spencer
Another instance of repeating a silhouette, but she looks great.
She knows what works and rocks it.

Queen Latifah
This suits her, I love it.

Rachel Weisz
Ugh, what is this?

Regina King
This could have been too much, but she did a great job of having the high slit be the dramatic flair without doing too much {take note, J. Lo} - she doesn't have her leg flung out {Angelina} or a plunging neckline and everything else is elegant. She looks great.

Speaking of high slits, google Kylie Jenner's Vanity Fair outfit. HOLY GEEZ.

Sarah Paulson
This is par for the course for her - I don't get anything she wears.

Tessa Thompson
I like all the detailing on this - it could be a boring black dress but it isn't!

Tina Fey
I like this but it doesn't wow me - she looks great but safe.

Trevor Noah
Classically perfect...but needs one inch on his pants, ha.

Yalitza Aparicio
Can you imagine if one minute you were starring in your first film and then next you were at the Oscars? This is what that looks like and she looks fabulous!

Now let's talk about best and worst. Up first...

Worst Dressed

Blah. The dress has no shape, same as her hair. It just bores me to tears.

Olivia Colman
Her acceptance speech was so fun, this dress is not.
The color, the fit, the weird overlay, her hair. I don't like any of it!

Best Dressed

I honestly could have put 10 people down as my favorites, but I made myself narrow it down to my top 2!

Helen Mirren
She is perfection - pure class and elegance.
This is how everyone should dress as they age - just look at Helen!

Gemma Chan
A few years ago, I never could have looked at this dress and considered it for my favorite. But I'm expanding on what I like ha. This is just funky enough to be new and fresh but she wears it SO well - I can't really put my finger on it, I just love the color, the uniqueness, simple hair and makeup, and it has POCKETS!

How'd I do? What were your faves and who did you hate?
