Wedding Weekend Away

My cousin's son got married at the end of August outside of Dallas. The wedding was on a Friday {and kids weren't invited}, so Brent and I got away for a couple of days sans kiddos! We went up Thursday and stayed in an amazing hotel in Ft. Worth and had dinner with my cousin, Hagan, and her husband, Clay.

Driving up!

Not a shabby view for a Thursday afternoon

We ate at one of Hagan and Clay's favorite restaurants
{where they had their rehearsal dinner!}, Joe T. Garcia's. It was delicious!

    The bride and groom!

We're cute when we get all dressed up! {grin}

When you twin with your cousin!

We had a blast with family but of course didn't get a picture all together, boo

We rented a house with my parents, my aunt and uncle, and my sister's family. They brought their kids because their babysitters were with us, ha.

Visiting after the wedding.

We got up at the crack of dawn on Saturday to make it home for the kickoff of college football, but we had a great time away!

Wedding Weekend

My cousin's son got married over the weekend, and we had the best time! They reserved cabins for people who wanted to stay for an extended weekend, and we signed up with my parents and my sister's family. The wedding was where we stayed with Brent's family last summer - the kids had a blast there so I was looking forward to going back.

We arrived Thursday late afternoon and there was a pizza party at the house rented for the wedding party. There were 2 awesome pools, lake access, a hot tub, and a game room - the kids thought it was awesome. And the pizza was SO GOOD.

A beautiful Texas sunset

Fun videos of the kids enjoying the pools!

Friday we hung out with our extended family, the kids played in the lake, and the bride's family had a food truck come and serve everyone lunch! It was a great afternoon. Brent and my dad made fajitas Friday night.

Goobers

The bummer of the weekend was Paige running fever on Friday.

What a view!

Definitely not feeling good :(

Saturday morning we hung out with family again until it was time to get ready for the wedding.

Uh-oh...another one down. SOB!

Sisters!

Brent stayed back at the cabin with Drew, so my cousin was my date.
Her husband is a coach so he couldn't come either.

This child LOVES to snuggle!

Every once in a while he acts like he likes me {grin}

On the way home after a great weekend
{except for Drew who felt pretty miserable at this point}!

Ryan and Kristen 7.2.16

Another weekend, another wedding of one of my cousins! This was my next to youngest cousin, Ryan. His sister, Kayla, is the one who got married 3 weeks ago, so I don't envy his parents for the stress of all that!

Ryan looking thrilled to be held by Patty and me in 1987!

Fast forward almost 30 years and another baby is on his or her way!
17 weeks! Yes, we're sure it isn't twins. No, that question doesn't bother me AT ALL.

The new Mr. and Mrs.

Sparkles galore!

I love Ryan's groom's cake.
Three of his favorite things - hunting, baseball, and beer. {grin}

Me and my sweetie
We got smart this time and left the kiddos with his parents.

We got to spend a lot more time with her at this wedding!

It's so fun celebrating weddings! We had a great time, ate too much, stayed up too late, and were lucky to get to sleep in!

Kayla and Caleb 6.11.16

My youngest cousin, Kayla, got married this past weekend, and we had so much fun celebrating! 8 of the 12 grandkids came, mine and Patty's kids acted like wild animals {reminds me of my childhood at weddings}, and everything was so perfect.

To say I've always loved this girl is an understatement!

I don't have a good picture on my laptop of Kayla in our wedding.
But here she is in 2004 at 14 as a junior bridesmaid.
{Also pictured: my good friend, Angela. Hi Angela!}

Unfortunately, it isn't really fashionable to ask your 35 year old cousin to be a bridesmaid, but Kayla did ask me to read during the ceremony, so I definitely felt special. {grin} Blair was the flower girl and was especially cute!

I didn't get any pictures during the ceremony but stole this one from Facebook.

Now let the party begin! The reception was decorated very shabby chic, and I thought everything turned out great.

We spent quite a bit of time hitting up the candy bar!

I can guess what my dad is thinking: I'm so glad I didn't have to pay for this one!'
Or: 'Mmmm...beer...'

It's totally normal to lay on a dirty hall floor and have your cousins sit on you.
Right?

Even the pretty flower girl joined in the shenanigans!

Cousins!!

Poor Mayer just couldn't hang.

Oh wait! He found his second wind.

Doing gymnastic bridges in the middle of the dance floor

And with that, it was time to load these hooligans up and head home! I think Brent and I have the only 2 children in the world who DON'T typically fall asleep in the car when it's past their bedtime. No, our 2 talked the whole way home {even thought it was 10:30 at night} and took a while to settle down! This pregnant lady felt terrible on Sunday - and we get to do this all over again on July 2 for Kayla's brother's wedding - can't wait to celebrate Ryan and Kristen, too!
