Wicked Girl

If my memory is working correctly, I've seen 17 Broadway musicals in NYC, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Austin. It would be hard to rank them because so many of them were AMAZING! BUT my #1 has been the same for almost 17 years...

I have been playing the soundtrack on-and-off for years, and Drew has grown to love the music, and we've talked about going to see it together for a long time. 

Christmas 2021

Covid kept us down for a little while, then Broadway Across America didn't have it coming to Austin...and I finally got fed-up and figured out last spring that it would be in Houston in summer 2023. I kept watching for when tickets would go on-sale, signed up for email alerts and got tickets for myself, Drew, and my mother-in-law right before Christmas for us to go in early June!

We're turning it into a little Gurley girl getaway - we are seeing a matinee on Sunday and then going out to eat and staying the night in Houston. I booked us a room at the same hotel where Brent's company does their holiday party - where they have a Texas shaped lazy river {grin}.

Excited to swim here - don't want to try it out in December!

My mother-in-law called me the other day to tell me she got an email about next season's Broadway Across America shows coming to Austin...and Wicked is coming. OF COURSE! But not until next spring, so I'm glad to not have to wait another year, and I'm super excited for our little GGG and to experience this with Drew!!

It's great for making a low-cal Moscow mule.

I am having a love affair with hominy and parmesan green beans, ha.

They are green and yellow category foods in Noom and I can't get enough!

I owe y'all an update on Noom soon - 5 weeks in and going well.

Current Shame-Inducing Pleasure

Probably the amount of time I spend {and enjoy!} in my Noom app.

The other day Brent asked me if I had anything else to talk about ha.

I don't find it cumbersome to use and it's fun to track all the things.

This fits my accountant/math/nerd side perfectly.

Y'all know I'm slow to get to everything, but I'm really excited to watch this.

I've always thought Sam Claflin was so cute, curious to see him as Billy!

I love my kids, but I have had almost zero friend time in the last few weeks,

and I'm feeling a bit burned out.

Luckily, I have 3 events in the next week where I will be around adults, yay!

A CAbi clothing party, book club, and a Broadway musical.

I'm going to get the kids in the bluebonnets this week for a picture!

The bluebonnets were so amazing in 2020, 

and this year is giving 2020 a run for its money!

I've been debating Easter dresses and need to get something purchased soon!

Our church isn't super fancy, but I like to get something new for some reason.

The girls won't be wearing Eleanor Rose dresses this year, and I'm so bummed.

Drew was 0% willing to do it, ha. But they'll still be cute!

Movies with Drew

Over winter break, Drew and I watched Wednesday together. We had such a fun time together that I've started putting a list together of movies and shows we should watch together. Brent's been doing this for years with Trent and even some family classics with the big kids {The Sandlot, The Great Outdoors...stuff like that}, but there are a lot I want to watch with Drew - and eventually Paige!

So far we've watched 4 movies together {not counting all the Harry Potter films}:

Girls Just Want to Have Fun - I don't think she was quite sure about this when we started it, but by the end she was dancing and jumping around like crazy! This is what Allison {my movie date} and I used to watch QUITE OFTEN on our elementary school sleepovers. Very much a classic!

Pride & Prejudice - one of my all-time favorite movies - she enjoyed it but I had to pause it quite often to explain what was going on, ha.

Troop Beverly Hills - we watched it with her best friend when we were selling Girl Scout cookies! Patty and I watched this ALLLL the time as kids.

Little Women - Paige even got in on some of this one, and it was another winner! I'm reading the book right now and think she'd like that too - especially as we're still making our way through the Little House series.
