Two-Step Inn Year 2

We had our 2nd trip to the Two-Step Inn festival in our little town a couple of weeks ago. Once again we had a great time! Great music and great time with friends. I did overserve myself, so I was suffering some early in the following week, but it was totally worth it!

Why yes, overserving myself included shots of fireball. Oy!

The weather forecast wasn't great for Saturday {and we were more excited for Sunday's lineup}, so our plan was to go and if/when it started raining, we would head to our town square to continue hanging with our friends. I really wanted to see Pat Green, and the rain held off until his show ended, yay! I saw him several times in college and always thought he had a great show, and he didn't disappoint this time.

Ready for Pat Green!

And then the rain came...boo!

Enjoying food and more drinks at one of our favorite square spots, Tejas.

Susannah and I were both not feeling our best on Sunday. I made it to brunch... barely though!

Getting ready for day 2, ha

Most of our crew on Day 2!

We ran into one of our favorite AmpedUp customers!

And then we ran into another instructor! Love our small-ish town.

The only picture I got with Brent, sigh.

Sunday's performances were great! Ludacris and Turnpike Troubadors being the last 2 shows that we LOVED! Brent skipped Ludacris in favor of Clint Black {whose Killing Time album is Brent's favorite album of all time}, but we met back up for Turnpike.

We had such an amazing weekend, and I hope to keep going in the future.

Halloween 2023 Recap

We had a great Halloween! Gosh, I love this time of year SO MUCH. It's about time for crazy happy, hyper Allena to show her face ha.

We got to do a few fun events leading up to Halloween - the first being a Girl Scouts birthday party for the founder of Girl Scouts, Juliette Gordon Low. It was at our Girl Scout house, and the girls had fun! The troop that organized it did a great job putting it together with games, crafts, snacks, lots of things for the girls to do!

Spoon race and recycled costumes for the win!

We also celebrated some neighbor/friends' birthdays - Trey turned 10 and Tanner turned 7.

Tanner and Paige - Friends since birth!
[I have pictures of them as little babies, can't believe they are so big!]

One of our besties as Napoleon Dynamite - she nailed it!

A cold front blew in Sunday afternoon so trick or treating was COLD for us Texans! Paige was actually the one to call it a night which is shocking because that girl LOVES candy.

The day of Halloween Drew BEGGED me to take her to get a new costume. Her original costume was a Dallas Cowboys football player, and she just wasn't feeling it. I told her she would owe me a lot of chores, but we stopped at a Spirit Halloween on the way home from school and got her a panda costume. KIDS!

A suburban mom, a vampire queen, and a panda

We trick or treated with our neighborhood crew, love our friends!

5/6 RBC babies {Trent was with his friends, he's so old!}

Speaking of Trent, here's the picture he sent me of his costume. Sigh.

I love my big guy being with his friends and having fun,
but it is a little sad to have them spread their wings!

Organizing their haul

Trent with his friends - the inflatables were funny but apparently annoying, ha.

And that's a wrap on Halloween - SQUEEEEEEEE!

July Fun

It's hard to top our trip to Arizona, but we managed to have a lot of fun after we returned throughout July. I can't believe August is next week and school starts in 2 weeks, ahhhhhhh!

The day after we came back was July 4, so of course, we had to participate in the neighborhood golf cart parade. We did about 10 minutes of decorating and got up there as quickly as we could - that 2 hour time difference is no joke!

Only picture I took of the parade, oops!

Some of our friends came over and we hit up the pool and then had a potluck dinner and sparkers to round out the night. It's so fun doing life with friends you've had for literally decades!

Keaton and Paige - the 2 littlest girls with the biggest personalities!

One of our Summer Bucket List goals was a night of golf and dinner at the club. It's been so awful with the heat that we turned that into hitting golf balls and dinner.

Three little golfers who got real hot and whiny

Trent is super into a card game called YuGiOh and a local {well local-ish} gaming store has tournaments! Brent's nephew, Branden, is also into YuGiOh, so he came with us. Trent had a blast!

The Gurley cousins!

Super successful at keeping her in her bed!

A very nice surprise from Brent!

Who wants a fun story about books? There was an author event in my little town with Katherine Center {whose books I very much enjoy}, but I couldn't go because I had plans with a friend for a wine night. Well, Drew was attending a creative writing workshop at the bookstore that was hosting the event. When I went to pick her up, the author was there signing books ahead of the event! I was able to buy the book, get her to personalize, and then we chatted together for 5 minutes. SO AWESOME!

Oh you know, just a picture with an amazing author!

That same night Drew started practice with her basketball team, yay!
So excited she's trying something new!

Previously mentioned Wine Night!

We also kept our neighbor's dog, Sarge, for 4 days when they went to the beach. The kids are gaga for Sarge, and he was so good! Getting us ready for our dog...hopefully next summer!

Enjoying his first pup cup!

Brent was out of town for a golf tournament when we had Sarge, so I had bed partners!

My niece was also baptized in July! See, I told y'all it was a busy month!

And we had lunch after the Baptism service.

Babs and Pops, the OGs

The Swope Six!

I ended up bringing my niece and nephews home with us to have a Cousin Sleepover {another Bucket List item}, and the kids had a blast.

Nothing better than reading a book while the kids swim!

I made a gourmet dinner of chicken strips, french fries/tater tots, apples and carrots!

My buddy while I worked on Monday. XO

Another day we met up with Sarge's family {ha!} and had lunch and went to a local frozen treat place. Paige had the 'Let's Go Party' milkshake - a cotton candy and bubble gum milkshake with whipped cream and sprinkles, and it came with hot pink sunglasses!

Another day, another dog walk. But this time with the puppy of the family Trent walks for.

Before and After of Paige's fun eyeshadow -
doesn't she look like she partied too hard after waking up?

The girls love when other instructors let them get on stage!

Me taking notes during a YuGiOh lesson, ha

Gosh, I'm exhausted after reminiscing over our July! I'm usually ready for school to start, but I'm not there yet. We are having the best summer!

Two-Step Inn

We went to an awesome 2-day music festival in our town this past weekend and had a BLAST. The company that puts on ACL put it on and did an amazing job. It was largely country music {and A LOT of 80s and 90s artists} but then with random people like T. Pain haha. We went with a bunch of our closest friends and had a great weekend. And the kids had a great weekend - they spent Saturday night with my parents and Sunday night with Brent's.

Saturday - it was much warmer on Saturday, got up to 90 degrees, and was very sunny. I might have over imbibed on the alcoholic libations {I hadn't had any alcohol since February}! We saw Doug Stone, Charlie Robison, Jo Dee Messina, Shenandoah, and finished the night with T-Pain!

Saturday - sitting with my ladies!

Susie didn't get the memo, ha

T. Pain was incredible!

The bad part of the whole festival was...leaving. The lines for rideshares was so bad, so Brent and I started walking towards home to try and get away from the crowd. Eventually we just called his dad who came and got us. We made a plan for Sunday night for him to pick us up again. Best father-in-law ever!

Sunday - a 'cool' front blew in so the weather was perfect - upper 60s and low 70s. I was a bit more responsible with my alcohol consumption {grin}. We saw Clay Walker, John Michael Montgomery, Paul Cauthen, Little Texas, Wynonna Judd, and finished the night with Tyler Childers.

Neighbors and friends with great taste in music

I like this progression of our photo bombers - look at each pic for these 3

John Michael Montgomery killed it!

Tyler Childers!

Trying to be cute but her hat was in the way

We really love Tyler Childers

We really enjoyed the festival and can't wait to do it again next year!
