Life Lately

My blog lately has mostly focused on Oscar nominated films and awards show fashion. I had a lot of regular stuff going on over the last few weeks, so I thought it was high time for a photo dump! So here's what's been going on in casa de Gurley...

...A baby shower with my book club ladies! We have two 2nd generation BC kiddos due in just a few short weeks {and I have a hunch there's another one!}.

The ladies bring so much joy to my life! Can't wait to meet Baby Perkins.

Because what else would we be doing?

 ...Lots of accessorizing

...House progress! I need to do another house update post soon. Sheet rocking is done, outside rocking is happening, lots of selections have been made - all with minimal arguing!

Looks exactly like a kitchen, no?

...Volunteering at the kids' school library means I get a visitor during the day! I don't talk much about the kids' school here, but I love, love, love their school. The teachers there have such passion for their job, and my kiddos are growing in leaps and bounds!

...Cutting off the Carol Brady/Mrs. Partridge mullet on this little nugget.

Bye bye, mullet!

Bribery with pirate booty to stay still!

...Playtime with my favorite niece and nephews! Trent and Miles have been playing so great together.

They ALL wanted selfies!

This is a game where there's a mother hen and an egg. But you could have totally guessed that without my description, right?

Trying to get her to stay still for a picture resulted in this.
Such a funny girl.

Nothing unusual or especially exciting going on, but I have no complaints!

Baby Beau's Shower!

I co-hosted a baby shower for Kristen and Schuyler and their baby girl, Beau, who is due to join their family in a few weeks! We did a twist on a fiesta theme, and I think it turned out awesome.

Let's start with the dessert table, shall we?
I made sopapilla cheesecake and it was a hit!

Lots of drinks

I loved all the decorations which were the brain-child of one of the other hostesses. She should really plan parties instead of being a CPA! I made the pom-poms...they looked like crap, ha.

Kristen made me promise to only put pictures of her on here where she looked good. She didn't say anything about looking silly!

Beau got so many gifts. And I could have died over some of the dresses. I might have plotted ways to steal them for Drew.

Ready to welcome their little girl

Hostesses and Mama-to-be

I am beyond excited for Beau's arrival. Drew is ready for her future BFF to be here so they can start playing and plotting against us. {grin}

Visuals

Had a training yesterday in Dallas. A bunch of partners were there. And I had faint outlines of blue sharks on my arms and legs from Trent's new stamp kit that 2 showers couldn't get off. I also had a Spider-Man band-aid on a cut. #boymom

Oh yeah...this is happening at our house right now. Full-on moving. #babygirlslowdownthisgrowingupbusiness

I also had to pump in the car on the way to said training (because it was in Dallas). Luckily a co-worker was driving, but I was still in the passenger seat covered by my nursing cover with my dress around my waist for a half hour. #breastfeedingisglamorous

I'm lazy to upload all the pictures from the best baby shower ever that I co-hosted this weekend, but feast your eyes on this gorgeousness and visualize the rest of the pictures to come. #weknockeditoutofthepark

Sprinkled with Love

A few of my friends honored me with a sprinkle on Sunday.  I had such a great time celebrating Baby Gurl and spending the afternoon with some of my favorite people.  Baby Gurl got some great stuff too, so that never hurts! {grin}

Pics with my moms, sis, and hostesses

I just couldn't make a collage of all the amazing decorations.  The ladies outdid themselves - everything was beautiful and the food was amazing!  The hostesses know how I feel about roses, hearts, pink and monograms, so the decorations were right up my alley.

The cake!!  Didn't Rhonda do an amazing job?
I guess our class has been paying off for both of us!

Rhonda also bought a Cricut (pronounced cricket, I didn't know) and made all of the cutouts.
Too stinking cute.

I got a little grief for Baby Gurl not having a name, but all the 'G's were so fun!

More Gs, hearts and pink!!

These are now adorning my kitchen table.
Gorgeous.

And, of course, it wouldn't be a sprinkle without gifts!
Baby Gurl got so many great outfits, her first girly cloth diaper, and we even got our double stroller and big girl car seat!
We are so loved and blessed!

Brent even 'oohed' and 'aahed' over the great stuff, too!

*This post was not sponsored by the exclamation point.  I used it so much because I love it!!!

TCEQ Shower

I really enjoyed having my computer mostly off this weekend, so I'm a little remiss in my blogging...

Brent's Work Shower at TCEQ - Brent's co-workers threw us a shower last Thursday during lunch. I didn't take many pictures and am waiting for Brent to provide me the rest of the pictures taken. Here are a couple I took, I LOVE the one of Brent - he humors me occassionally!

Baby Showers Part III

I have been so blessed to have so many showers, but you guys all get stuck looking at the pictures! This shower was at Lauren's house and was hosted by a group of girlfriends and my sister. They decided on a monkey theme, which was so cute! I had a blast and feel very loved! I feel really bad because I didn't get a picture with my hostesses, so thanks to Patty, Angela, Lauren, Staci, Jennifer and Sarah.
Presents!!
Monkey cupcakes a la Patty
Cute monkey socks!

I had my first shower this weekend - my mother-in-law's girlfriends from high school - The Pretty Girls. They all went to Reagan together back in the 70s and still live in Austin. Many of their kids all went to Pflugerville schools together too. I had a great time and got LOTS of great stuff.

Random Picture Wednesday

So my BFF from kindergarten, Jennifer, does 'Random Picture Wednesday', and I think it is so fun. I know today is Friday, but I liked the title and decided to stick with it - since I am copying her... She uses dice to give her folder and picture, but I used my co-workers. So thanks to Leigh, Cristee, Kathleen and Jennifer for your selections, you can blame any lame pictures on them, not me!!

Leigh's selection: I have to confess that we had to go through 3 tries before Leigh picked a picture I hadn't JUST posted. I know Jennifer's 'rules' including posting the picture, no matter what, but I thought it wouldn't be as fun to post pictures I had already put up (since my blog is still very new). This picture is also from Patty's shower, and I think it looks like she's imagining waving her Aggie towel at a football game...Gig 'em!

Cristee's selection: This is from Brent's Sloshball Birthday Party - Walt got way too drunk, passed out on baby Macey's blanket, and got drawn on in Sharpie marker by his own brother. It was too hilarious!
Kathleen's selection: The Aggie vs. t.u. basketball game last year. We took a charter bus to College Station (full of ridiculous amounts of alcohol), watched the game (Aggies won - Whoop!), and then drove home. Don't worry, I was the DD. Here are most of the boys (Brent not included) shot-gunning a beer before tip-off.
Jennifer's selection: I did a lot of decorating around the house this summer and took pictures to send to Kristen, who was living in Louisville at the time. Lauren and I made these curtains (Lauren did most of the work) that now hang proudly in our master bedroom.
