Weekend Recap

We had a good and busy weekend!  I took a ton of iPhone pics and wanted to share.

I took Trent to the circus.  Dena came with her kiddos.  Overall it was a neat experience.  I hadn't been since I was about 10.  I still remember watching and loving 'Circus of the Stars' as a kid.

That hat? To buy cotton candy you had to get the hat.  $12.  Ugh.

Tight rope walkers were for sure the coolest part.

Saturday evening we went to my sister's house.  She was babysitting a nephew from the other side of their family, so we had 4 kids just the 2 of us!

I just think she is so dang cute.  Her fat thighs kill me.

This caught my eye.  Yowza!

First time we've had these 3 together in the tub!
They are all looking at Patty being silly.

Sunday was all about errands.  I was at HEB, Target and Home Depot.  Spent about $400.  Ouch.

Trent was playing in this instead of napping.  Said he was riding a motorcycle.
So I had to push him around in it after naptime.  He is a mess.

Trent's BBR will be getting a fresh coat of paint today!  So excited we're moving along on that project.  I can't wait to have his room ready!  Brent puttied all the holes in there and we also took everything off the walls in the nursery and puttied those too.  I was a little bit sad to see his room lose its babiness.  But I guess it's very exciting to look ahead to how things will be in just a few months!

My Brain is Full

Do you ever have a day where you have so many things to think about that you can't think about any one thing?  I feel that way right now.  Not in an unhappy way, just a full way.

  • Work is busy (not crazy), but I'm taking a lot of time off this summer (wah, right?).  But that just means I don't have enough time to do what I need to.  So I end up looking at my 'to do' list and not actually doing.
  • We're thinking about some home renovations (exciting!), so I am spending a lot of time searching the internet for ideas.  I'll of course share when we firm up our plans.
  • The more pregnant I get, I start to think more and more about this new baby.  I've started looking at names at the ends of movies again and in magazines, books.  Nothing to put on a 'potential' list yet...
  • I'm reading a fun Nora Roberts fluff trilogy, but I stay up way too late reading it!
  • Work is picking up for Brent (another exciting!) but we've had to adjust our routine, which is taking some getting used to.
  • I have exciting news to share on Friday!  I'm such a tease.
  • We're putting Trent to bed later right now since he's having so much trouble sleeping.  Which means less time to do anything else.
  • And I spend a lot of time researching things to help him sleep naturally.  Which makes me think about all the other natural things I want to do in the future...and haven't yet done (cleaning supplies, stuff like that).  Someday, right?
See what I mean?  Brain = full. {grin}

16 Weeks: Baby Dos Update

Me and Baby Dos are doing just dandy.  Time is moving quickly and slowly this time around.

I'm feeling SO much better (the pukies are gone!!), but I'm starting to feel the achiness/back pain.  That didn't start until later with Trent, but I'm realizing with a 2nd, everything starts faster.  Your bump pops out faster for sure!  I look more like I did at 20-24 weeks with Trent than 16 weeks!

Still working out several times a week with Rhonda and hoping to keep that up through the duration.  Doing a better job of watching what I eat, but pregnancy sure does make it tempting to eat crap!

Had my 16 week appointment today, and everything is rocking along just great.  Heart rate was 157 bpm today (was 170 at 12 weeks).  T's was always in the 140s, low 150s.

I think I am feeling Baby Dos move, at least I hope that is what it is!

20 week anatomy appointment is scheduled.  As with Trent, I don't want to find out, but Brent does.  Given he never has an opinion about anything, I try to honor him when he does.

16 week bump (don't judge the photography, my dad took)

40w 3d

I was pregnant for 40 weeks and 3 days. Whoa. We don't need to discuss what happened 40 weeks and 3 days before that. ;)

But now Trent is officially 40 weeks and 3 days old. He has spent as many days on the 'outside' as on the 'inside'. That is such a neat concept to me. What an amazing 40 weeks and 3 days it's been!

Maternity Pictures

Better late than never, but we got the CD for our maternity pictures on Tuesday (when we took our first family photos with Trent). Here are a couple of my favorites. I have a really neat idea for framing these with the pictures we took on Tuesday...I hope it turns out the way I'm imagining...

A Baby Story

Trent and I just finished his first nightly diaper change and feeding. I am not a pro at getting his diapers on tight enough (yet), so we had a wardrobe malfunction that required a new set of pj's as well. Usually he does NOT enjoy changing clothes, but he handled it really well tonight, for which I am so thankful. My FMIL (fabulous mother-in-law) has stayed with us the past 3 nights, but tonight I am trying to do everything on my own, to see if I can manage it, and using her only as needed, so it was wonderful that my little guy didn't scream at me! I get a little antsy with everything, so I couldn't fall back asleep and decided this would be a good time to tell Trent's birth story...

We arrived at the hospital at 6:00 AM on June 30, 2009. I was prompty changed into a hospital gown and started on Pitocin.

Last belly bump - 40 weeks and 3 days
A little before 8:00, my doctor came and broke my water. The contractions got SO intense immediately that within 15 minutes I was asking for my epidural. I felt a little bit like a weenie, but when I found out I went from 1 1/2 cm to 4 cm during that time, I felt a little more justified! The nurse asked me which side I wanted to lay on, and I said left so that I could look at and talk to Brent. Bad decision. The baby's heart rate immediately plummeted and the nurse couldn't get it back up. They rolled me to my right side and put me on oxygen, but his heart rate was still hovering around 60 beats per minute (want it around 120-160). The doctor was paged, she came sprinting to the room, and his heart rate jumped back into a good range. Thank goodness. I was pretty upset and crying by this point. The Pitocin was turned off, and I was given a shot to stop contractions to let everything settle down and give Baby Boy a chance to rest (it feels weird calling him Trent when he was still Baby Boy at this point).
Me on oxygen
We moved right along once the Pitocin was turned back on for a few hours...discovered Baby Boy was sunnyside up (facing the wrong way) and I was dilated to 6 cm. Then we tried the left side again and Baby Boy's heart rate dropped again. After another round of oxygen and another hour of Pitocin, my doctor said she I was showing signs that I might need a c-section (since the baby wasn't handling contractions great and was positioned wrong).
Everyone was cold (but me) - thankfully I ruled the room that day and they all got blankets!
Another few hours passed, and I started feeling contractions in my left side but my right side was TOTALLY numb. Because we couldn't put me on my left side or risk more heart rate drops, I'd stayed on my right side the entire day, and the epidural was pooling in the right side. Let's just say those contractions were NOT enjoyable, and we slowly got me turned to my left side. Baby Boy reacted beautifully (meaning he didn't react at all), the medicine got redistributed, and I was dilated to 8-9 cm. This makes for a HAPPY mommy-to-be.
The doctor came and realized I was dilated to 10 cm. I pushed a few times so that she could work on turning Baby Boy. We got him halfway turned, and it turned out that I am an excellent pusher (who knew?), so my doctor decided we'd try to deliver, but she wanted to wait an hour to let him labor down on his own some, since he was still not in an ideal position.

40 minutes later, I couldn't wait ANY longer...it was TIME to PUSH! An hour and 15 minutes later...BABY BOY WAS HERE!!! Brent was so amazing through everything - he knows my personality so well and was so supportive when I needed it. He mostly let the nurses and doctor do their jobs and held on for the wild ride.
Taking in the moment - totally in awe of this little guy

Meeting Dad for the first time

Look at his little tongue (and not my sweaty face)!

Bath time
All clean and ready to hang with Mom and Dad
Ready for his close-up
I am still in a state of shock over how amazing/crazy this experience has been so far. Birth is everything and nothing like I expected. My doctor told me the next morning that she really thought I would need a c-section and that made me feel like such a rock star.
Trent is fussing a bit, so there you go! How he made his grand entrance. :)

Joke of the Day

Why is the glider sad?
Because the baby WON'T COME OUT!!!
I know that joke isn't very funny but neither is watching the baby ticker start counting UPWARD. Yesterday I had several meltdowns - I know you aren't supposed to pin your hopes on your due date, but it totally sucks when that due date comes, and there's no baby. I really keep hoping he'll come on his own soon, but it doesn't look like it. I'll just keep praying... :)

40 Week Check-Up

Just back from my 40 week appointment. Baby Boy must really like it inside...no change from last week...still 1 cm dilated and 75-80% effaced. We have a tentative induction set for Tuesday (June 30), but she wants to see me the day before first, and if she doesn't like my cervix (she didn't today), we're cancelling the induction... So pray that Baby Boy decides to come out on his own before then or that my cervix makes my doctor happy on Monday!! :)

I also thought I'd give you an update on Stephanie (my friend who is having twins). She has made it past 32 weeks and is on daily monitoring in the hospital. She will be having her babies on Monday via c-section. Her son weighs almost 4 pounds and her daugher weighs almost 2 1/2 pounds. Pray for a safe delivery and that the babies gain strength quickly so that they don't have to stay in the NICU for too long.

I'm having another afternoon visitor (Patty and Miles), so I will post some pictures of my precious nephew later!!

Miss

As this pregnancy winds down (it better be winding down), I have been thinking about what I will and will not miss about being pregnant.

What I Will Miss
1. Feeling him inside me (I will by far miss this the most - it outweighs every negative aspect there could possibly be with pregnancy)
2. Eating anything and everything
3. Frequent massages, pedicures, pampering

What I Will NOT Miss
1. Swollen feet
2. Itchy legs
3. Smelling like Sarna lotion (remedy for #2)
4. 40 extra pounds (although those won't magically disappear)
5. Acne (I feel like I'm 14 again)
6. Not having a glass of wine
7. Not sleeping on my stomach (are these double negatives confusing anyone else?)

I am beyond excited for my Baby Boy to get here (take the hint, kiddo, and COME OUT!!!)

39 Week Check-Up (aka Prescription Fun)

I had my 39 week check-up yesterday. I've been having lots of discomfort, so I went into the appointment thinking there BETTER BE some change in my status down there or I was going to be really sad. (Sidebar: I did have a slight breakdown in the morning... Waiting on a baby is one of the hardest things EVER I have decided.) Well, my body did not disappoint. I am still only dilated to 1 cm, but I am 75-80% effaced. My doctor said (and I quote) that I am 'very ripe'. She said there was a significant different from last week in my cervix!!! She wrote a prescription for Brent prescribing sex to get this baby out - hilarious! I love my doctor. I just got done walking on the treadmill for 40 minutes...hopefully we'll have a baby in the next few days!!!

Baby Bump Watch 2009 - 38 Weeks

I am sitting here propped up in my recliner with my SWOLLEN feet laughing as I watch 'I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant'... There's NO way I could mistake this pregnancy for anything else...and I'm loving it.

Why Peeing 5 Times a Night Isn't Always a Bad Thing

Being up so often, you can smell that something isn't right in your house, and you are able to get the burning pizza out of the oven that your husband and his friend put in at 5:00 AM and then prompty passed out...

P.S. - This is not the first time Brent has done this...except last time it was chicken nuggets...

38 Week Check-Up

We finally have some progress to report! After being told last week that I was 'thick and closed', I am officially dilated 1 cm, 50% effaced, and Baby Boy is at a -1 station. All very exciting!! Everything else is measuring great and right according to schedule, let's just hope he gets bored inside and decides to come out and play really soon. :)

Baby Bump Watch - 37 Weeks

I'm not much bigger (I've measured 35 cm for 3 weeks), but I MIGHT be dropping a little bit, right?? To quote my doctor, I am 'thick and closed', so no progress on that front, but he does look a little lower. If you don't think he does, please keep that to yourself! ;)

It's Getting Real

Bump Watch 2009 - 36 Weeks

I took pictures of my progress in my weekend of organization (and will post later)...I am re-thinking the idea of waiting until the end of all my showers to organize Baby Boy's room...this is HARD work! I haven't gotten as far as I'd like and am totally wiped! Good thing I am 0% effaced and 0 cm dilated (or I'm pretending that's a good thing)...

Now...drum roll please...36 weeks and GROWING!

Babysitting

I got to spend some quality time with Miles last night while his mama enjoyed a pedicure and dinner with her (former) co-workers - she definitely deserved it for being a fabulous mother and sister!! Miles was especially precious last night, and I got a lot of super cute pictures of him. Feast your eyes on this deliciousness...

He has started smiling and giggling, but as soon as I would pick the camera up, he would get all serious... I'll catch him giggling yet!

I love capturing pictures of the cousins this way, maybe it's a little weird, but I think it's neat.

He is turning into a thumb sucker - too cute!

Enjoying a snack, look at those blue eyes... I wonder if they'll stay that way?

1 Month Left

My due date is officially in less than 1 month!! I can't believe it. This weekend is going to be all about organization. I am not an organized person and have yet to have any nesting...which doesn't surprise me. But I have my last shower on Saturday, so Sunday is going to be all about getting Baby Boy's room organized and figuring out what I still need, need to return, etc. It should finally look like a nursery instead of a holding pit for presents... Then I have to figure out what to put on the walls...any suggestions? I'd love to put his name above the crib, but since Brent and I aren't discussing names for a while (I get too mad), that's unlikely!!

A Phat Fat, Hot Mess

While I patiently wait for Dez to send me the pictures she took at Sloshball on Saturday (hint, hint, Desiree), I thought I'd post one from my camera that shows what a pregnant mess I am. :)
