March 2017 Reads

It's time for my March reads! Don't laugh, but there's a lot of Nora Roberts this month. I am still nervous about my mood, so I am cautious about reading anything dark, so a Nora book is always perfect.

The Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts - This is a trilogy about a epic battle against vampires. Yes, I know. Some of Nora's premises are a bit ridiculous. But really at the heart these are 3 fun reads with a love story.

The Witness by Nora Roberts - A girl witnesses a murder and is trying to hide for years from people who want to kill her. She moves to a small town and attracts the eye of the local Chief of Police. I really liked this one!

Midnight Bayou by Nora Roberts - A guy falls in love with an old house and decides to restore it and is haunted by memories of a young girl who used to live there and was murdered. {You'd think with talk of murder and vampires these books would be too much for me, but they aren't nearly as gruesome as they sound, promise!}

The Splendour Falls by Susanna Kearsley - A girl goes on vacation to meet her cousin who disappears before she gets there. She enjoys meeting people in the hotel and unraveling a few mysteries - some of which are centuries old. This one took a while to get into which isn't usually the case for Susanna books, but about 1/3 of the way into it I got really into the story. Not my favorite of hers but still really good. Also the first that didn't have a supernatural element to it.

The Impossible Fortress by Jason Rekulak - This was our book club book of the month and it was SO good. Totally something I wouldn't have picked but I really loved it. 3 14-year-old friends in 1987 come up with several plots for how to get their hands on the Vanna White issue of Playboy. The owner of the store that sells it has a daughter who is into computer programming, just like the main character, so they try to write a game to win a contest too. The story was paced really well and kept me engaged and interested the whole time. It was a great pick for book club too since our last few books had been kind of dark. I only stayed about an hour since I had Ms. Paige with me, and I kept her up past her bedtime, but I still had fun seeing my book club ladies!

I am so impressed with how much reading you do in a month. I am lucky to finish one book! Please keep these suggestions coming, I love seeing what everyone else is reading.
