A Firecracker of a Day

Another holiday has come and gone, and we had a great weekend! I had Friday off {and tomorrow too!}, so our celebrations started early and were filled with lots of sun, water, friends, and fun.

Friday I took the kids to the splash pad at the rec center. It's more like a kiddie pool with awesome slides and splash pad 'stuff' in it, and the kids LOVE it. We usually can't go until the afternoon and then can only stay about an hour, so we were there right when it opened and stayed almost 2 hours. Can you guess who got a sunburn out of the 3 of us? Spoiler alert - the answer is always me.

Ready for the water!

Our Fourth of July celebrations started with a festival in our new town. We missed the parade due to wardrobe malfunctions {forcing Drew to wear red, white, or blue} and attitude adjustments {Trent, I'm looking at you}, but we were still able to get nice and sweaty and spend way too much money on rides and snacks.

Aren't we so festive?!

Enjoying some down time while Sister slept.

Our new neighbors {but long-time friends} invited us to their parents' house to swim and cook out, so after Drew woke up, we headed over.

I LOVE this picture. Gearing up for fireworks!

Most of the kids weren't too crazy about the fireworks, but we got a brilliant show. We could see 3 official displays from the house we were at, so on almost all sides there were fireworks - it was awesome! We let the kids stay up way too late and didn't regret it for 1 minute. {grin}

Today we went to my parents for a little bit, and Trent ended up spending the night because Miles and Blair were there. This will be the first time my parents have had the 3 bigs, so fingers crossed it goes well!
