Oscars Fashion 2020

Did anybody watch the Oscars last night? I thought the show was pretty good! Trent watched a part of it with me and was cracking up, ha. Overall, I would say I liked most of the fashion! There were some risks taken and different styles, but most everyone looked really great. I saw lots of sparkles - it seemed to be what there was the most of - and I LOVE a good sparkly dress!

America Ferrera
I love everything about this EXCEPT the head band.
It is not needed and makes the outfit look like a Greek costume.

Brie Larson
HOLY SMOKES. This could have been a favorite for me EASILY.
She looks insanely hot.

Laura Dern
When I first saw this, I wasn't crazy about the tassels. It looks like tapestry.
However, when she won and walked on stage, I got it.
Not my favorite, but it grew on me.

Margot Robbie
Meh. I like the actual dress okay.
I don't like the ribbons(?) hanging from her arms.
I also don't like her hair - her roots look bad and overall it looks dirty.

Billy Porter
I don't understand his style, but he looks FIERCE in it.

Caitriona Balfe
Nope. I love her {Outlander!} but don't love this. :(

Charlize Theron
I think this is a gorgeous dress, but it doesn't do anything for her. Sad.

Sandra Oh
I think I would have liked this with EITHER the sleeves or the bottom.
Both were too much. But the sparkles were great! And fit her really well too.

Maya Rudolph
Sparkles in a non-skin-tight manner. This is okay to me.
I think it was just too much fabric - no sleeves OR no cape -
and it would have been much better!

Mindy Kaling
She looks GREAT in this dress!
HOWEVER, she looked like she's had a lot of work done when she presented?
Was that just me? I was sad.
*Also I hate that she is wearing Dolce & Gabbana for their racist advertising.*

Brad Goreski
I love Brad and loved how he made his tux fun but still fit and looked GREAT.
FASHUN.

Cynthia Erivo
She owned that dress! And her performance? Holy geez, AMAZING.

Natalie Portman
I wish I could find a picture without her coat - it's a beautiful and unique dress!
Also I love that it had all the female directors NOT nominated embroidered in it!

Rebel Wilson
Another sparkly winner! She looks great.
One thing I don't like is I feel like her hair isn't great?

Brad Pitt
I have no words. H-O-T.

Florence Pugh
This is another one that I feel looks unique and great!
I don't think you would have seen this a few years ago?

Gal Gadot
To quote Brent: Smoke show!

Renee Zellweger
DAMN. Another one that could have been my best dressed.

George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman
My 1917 boys. LOVE.

Idina Menzel
Another favorite of the night!

Janelle Monae
I don't love the head covering but the dress looks fabulous.

Rooney Mara
Why does she always look bad and angry?

Saoirse Ronan
This isn't my favorite look of hers, but I love her so much.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos
 Aren't they so beautiful?

Kristin Cavallari
This is a 'safe' dress - we've seen it before - but she looks awesome.

Roman Griffin Davis and Archie Yates
The JoJo Rabbit boys are TOO CUTE!

WORST DRESSED

Aurora
She's the *sound* Elsa hears in Frozen 2.
We should just keep her in our ears and not eyes, right?

Kristen Wiig
Nope. Do not understand this one - too many weird things here.
The side boob with netting, the butterfly wings, the gloves, the train. Nope.

Timothee Chalamet
It's like a fancy track suit?

BEST DRESSED

Regina King
This was flawless -
the color, the sparkle, the unique details, the way it fit, everything.

Scarlett Johansson
I love that this is a simple/classic silhouette but it's a bit unique here.
I love her simple makeup and hair and her earrings were so beautiful.
Simple and classy, overall gorgeous.

BEST COUPLE

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
Hands down couples goals!

Academy Awards 2020 Predictions

It's Oscar time! The award show is a lot earlier this year, so I'm a little bummed that Allison and I didn't get everything watched. Out of the 9 Best Picture nominees I watched 8 movies! {The only one I didn't watch was Joker and I didn't want to see it - I felt my own struggles with anxiety would make this one a little too much for me.} I also watched 5 at home which always makes a different reaction. What's crazy this year is I liked almost everything I saw - that's definitely a rare event!

Note: If I highlighted it red, I didn't see it. If it's underlined, I watched it at home.

Best Supporting Actress
Kathy Bates, Richard Jewell
Laura Dern, Marriage Story
Scarlett Johansson, JoJo Rabbit
Florence Pugh, Little Women
Margot Robbie, Bombshell

My vote: Laura Dern was phenomenal in Marriage Story. I thought her acting and ever aspect of it - her makeup, hair, outfits, mannerisms - were so thought-out and perfect.

Best Supporting Actor
Tom Hanks, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
Anthony Hopkins, Two Popes
Al Pacino, The Irishman
Joe Pesci, The Irishman
Brad Pitt, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

My vote: Brad Pitt - I loved his character and the way he played him. I honestly fell asleep during The Irishman so no offense to those 2 guys but zzzzz.

Best Actress
Cynthia Erivo, Harriet
Scarlett Johansson, Marriage Story
Saiorse Ronan, Little Women
Charlize Theron, Bombshell
Renee Zellweger, Judy

My vote: Geez, I'd be happy with either Scarlett or Saiorse winning - I love Saiorse so much and would love to see her finally win, but Scarlett's performance in Marriage Story was really top notch.

Best Actor
Antonio Banderas, Pain and Glory
Leonardo DiCaprio, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Adam Driver, Marriage Story
Joaquin Phoenix, Joker
Jonathan Pryce, Two Popes

My vote: Adam Driver - I thought he was great!

Best Original Song
'I Can't Let You Throw Yourself Away', Toy Story 4
'(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again', Rocketman
'I'm Standing with You', Breakthrough
'Into the Unknown', Frozen 2
'Stand Up', Harriet

My vote: I added this category this year as it's really easy to listen to these songs ha. I know my girls would vote for 'Into the Unknown', and I do LOVE that song, but I thought 'Stand Up' was a really beautiful song and might be my favorite!

Best Picture
Ford v Ferrari
The Irishman
JoJo Rabbit
Joker
Little Women
Marriage Story
1917
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Parasite

My vote: 1917 or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - I really liked 1917 as a story and as a production - it was made so well! Brent and I were both also really impressed by OUATIH - it seemed so realistic and it was so entertaining and then there was a huge twist at the end that made us both react!
