Movie Review: The Boss

Allison and I have been struggling lately to find movies we want to go see. After the disappointment that was The Bronze, we figured hoped it could only go up. So this weekend we decided to see The Boss. Which we realized after we got into the theater had a worse Rotten Tomato score than The Bronze.

Plot: A titan of industry is sent to prison after she's caught insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebuild herself as America's latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget.

Review: Allison and I were both pleasantly surprised! It was actually pretty funny - there were lots of times when the whole theater was laughing out loud. I think the scene where Michelle {Melissa McCarthy} is messing with Claire's {Kristen Bell} bra is worth the price of your ticket - any mom with kids especially will die laughing. Is it going to be nominated for an Oscar? No. Is it a fun flick? Yes!

March Reads

I read a weird assortment of books in March. I think all of them make sense for why I would read them, but when I look at them, I kind of chuckle.

Sacred Sin & Brazen Virtue by Nora Roberts - You guys know I love a good Nora Roberts book, and I really love her trilogies. This was just a duo, but it was good. It was kind of fun to read because they were written in the 80s, so no cell phones, no internet - kind of fun. I have read at least 50 Nora Roberts books, and these didn't disappoint.

The Whole Brain Child by Daniel J. Segel and Tina Payne Bryson - I think every parent should read this book! It was so helpful to understand why a tantrum happens {what causes it in the brain} and also to have some strategies to use. I borrowed this book and as soon as I was done I bought my own copy. I wouldn't say it's super helpful with a toddler but very good for school age kids. LOVED IT!

Odd Apocalypse by Dean Koontz - This is the 4th of 6 books about Odd Thomas. I didn't like this one as much as some of the earlier ones {especially the first ones}, but I love the character of Odd. This one got really sci-fi instead of just more about ghosts, so it was a different story for Odd. Overall it was a good read, and I can't wait to see what Odd gets up to next.
