A Long Time Coming... Alternatively Titled: WA-FREAKIN'-HOO!

Let's start this post out with the good news first: I GOT A NEW JOB!!!!!

HAPPY FACE!!!!!

About 18 months ago, my boss and I talked about some changes I wanted to make to my career. We had talked before I went out on maternity leave that I needed a change. He tried to help make that happen...but what we tried didn't really stick. I was doing resource management {scheduling for our group}, but the amount of time I was supposed to get to do it dwindled, and I got sucked back about 95% into Audit work. Now given I am an Auditor, and I get paid an Auditor's salary, I get it that when things are busy...I need to be an Auditor. But I didn't WANT to be an Auditor anymore.

I put some feelers out about transferring into Talent {what my company calls HR}, but our busy season came and well, I was busy {grin}. And miserable. I was working a lot of nights until 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning because I wanted to spend some time in the afternoon/evening with the kids. So when one of my partners told me I didn't put in 'quite enough' effort to get the project evaluation I felt I deserved, I knew I was done. If working 50-60 hours/week wasn't enough...I knew I couldn't do any more. Which I told her. To which she responded 'Next year with a little more effort I think we can get you there.' Um...

So anyway. I officially started applying for jobs in Talent over the summer. My goal was to get out of Audit and into Talent before busy season {January}. It took many frustrating months, but over the last month I've had 6 interviews for 2 different positions {resource management positions for different groups}. And I got offered a new position on Tuesday, talked to my bosses on Wednesday to break the news, drove to Dallas on Thursday to 'knowledge share' with the girl I am replacing, and signed all my paperwork on Friday. BAM!

My first 'official' day in the new role is 11/3, but I'll be slowly transitioning all my audit stuff over to other managers and adding more responsibilities in this role over the next few weeks. To say I am excited is an understatement.

Best part? It's a lateral move, so there's no pay change!
Other best part? 100% WORK FROM HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yeah...wa-freakin'-hoo!

I am just now catching up- congratulations! My husband is an auditor, too, and those hours last winter (and into spring) were crummy. I am so glad you are able to make the change!
