Award Season is Here!!! Emmys 2010

I LOVE Hollywood award season! I love the dresses (hits AND misses), the hot guys in tuxes, the Fashion Police on E! with Joan Rivers...it's just too much fun. So I decided I'd share my thoughts with you peeps...I know, I know...you feel so special!

So to begin...Most Improved goes to Tina Fey!! I'm not crazy about this dress, but she looks so much better than awards shows of the past.

Next up - my 'eh' category. I can't decide if I like these looks or not. You decide...
Kim K. - is it just me or does she always look good but never awesome?
I love Keri Russell, but this dress didn't fit and she has a giant scrunchie in her hair. I did think the color was fantastic though.
January Jones - color of the dress is awesome, I like the hair and make-up, but something about this dress is just a little weird for me. Maybe the hoop skirt effect?
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski - I LOVE them but just feel underwhelmed. Maybe it's Emily's hair and make-up?
Christina Hendricks from Mad Men - to quote Joan Rivers - the dress looks like it was made by Jim Henson. The color is fantastic though, and she's too gorgeous for words!

Now onto the BAD!!!
Rita Wilson - atrocious! How Tom Hanks can stand with her and not laugh hysterically proves why he has 2 Oscars. {grin}
I love Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer together, but I do not love this dress.
Runner up for my best dressed: Lea Michele

Best-looking male - Alexander Skarsgard - seriously - just yum!
Best-looking female - Claire Danes - hands down - I thought she just looked amazing. 2 thumbs up, a perfect 10, 5 stars - you name it, I give it to her!

I couldn't find good pictures of Lauren Graham and Mindy Kaling (from The Office), but they also get honorable mentions for worst dressed. {grin}
So who did I miss? Whose look did you hate/love?

8 Questions

Dez, one of my IRL friends, tagged me for a game of 8 Questions. I have obviously lost my blogging mojo this week, so I am super thankful for something to talk about on here.
The rules are simple: Answer the 8 questions, come up with 8 new questions, tag 8 people. Easy. And here are her eight questions:
1. What TV show is your guiltiest pleasure? Extra points for super awful. Girls Next Door on E! is probably the worst (ahem...best) of my guilty pleasures.
2. Team Edward, team Jacob or team I don’t give a rats ass? Team Edward ALL THE WAY!
3. What is your most unhealthy craving? Dessert - I could eat it all day, every day. Ice cream, cookies, cake, candy, straight sugar - if it's sweet, I want it.
4. Whats your favorite knock knock joke? I never remember the good jokes. Only one I can think of is the banana, banana, banana, orange you glad I didn't say banana one...and that one is just plain awful.
5. What is your least favorite household chore? Can I just say 'cleaning the house'? Ha! I don't like to do any of it. But probably just picking all the crap up is the worst!
6. What book could you read over and over? Shanna by Kathleen Woodiwiss - and I do read it almost annually and have for 7 years.
7. Whats the strangest thing you dip in ranch dressing? I think I dip normal stuff in Ranch - pizza and fries
8. Favorite male and female celebs? Male: Mark Wahlberg (I just think he's delicious and a great family guy) Female: Mariska Hargitay (I would leave Brent for her - ha)
And now I tag the following:

Dena
Katie
Heather
Emily
Ashlee
Stacey
Jennifer
Shelly

Questions:
1. If you could go on a trip right now, where would you go?
2. What is your favorite baby name? (and you can't name your own children)
3. What is your favorite website?
4. What is one thing you're embarrassed that you bought?
5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
6. Are you a wine or beer drinker?
7. If you didn't have to work, what would you do?
8. What is your favorite blog?

Auntie Daycare

Patty and Miles came over for a visit, and being the fabulous sister that I am, I let Patty take a nap and I watched both boys for about an hour. For much of the time, they were strapped or locked into something - first the wagon and then the 'catch all' room in our house. They didn't seem to mind!

Morph

I played with MorphThing and created a baby - I wanted to see how closely it would resemble our real baby.

Daddy (it was WAY hard finding a front-facing, hatless picture of Brent!)
Mommy
Baby?
The REAL thing
What do you think? I think it looks A LOT like T, huh??

Tuesday's Top 10 - Workin' Late

I haven't done a 'Tuesday's Top 10' in a while...mainly because I ran out of ideas for Top 10 lists, but as I was driving home from work at 10 PM last night, I thought about all the perks of working 16 hour days. {grin}

10. You get to spend a lot of time with fabulous co-workers.
9. You get to avoid the 105 degree heat.
8. Free parking because you leave the garage after the last attendant leaves.
7. You get first crack at the candy dish by reception.
6. Lots of Starbucks
5. You get to make sure all your suits still fit.
4. Your company pays for all your meals.
3. No traffic!
2. You are the first one to use the bathroom after it's been cleaned.
1. You really appreciate your family because you miss them SOOOO much (and your husband is wonderful as Mr. Mom).

Birthday Fun

I never posted the pictures from my birthday, so here they are! I had a great birthday that overflowed into the weekend. Who doesn't love that?

Dinner with the family - my mom always buys a cake. {grin}

We went to the Hyatt on Saturday night with Dena and JP, Patty and David, and Kristen and Schuyler.

The view from our table - awesome!More cake!
Me and my sweetie
There's nothing like being pampered and spoiled for your birthday!

Vacation?

Brent and I have been throwing around the idea of taking a trip for JUST THE TWO OF US before another baby enters the mix. I am NOT pregnant. I repeat: I AM NOT PREGNANT. But we've spent the last almost 2 years around town. We went to Puerto Vallarta when we were early in our pregnancy (Can you say sober + all inclusive?) and had a blast. I'm not sure I could do 5 days away from T, so we're talking about something a little shorter and a little closer to home. What is the point of this post? I'm getting there...I promise! I want to get a big list of potential places and was hoping YOU could give us some ideas!! Chicago? NYC? San Diego? Seattle? Jackson Hole? Tahoe? East Coast? West Coast? What do you think?!?!

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It's Off to Work I Go

Work is WAY busy right now. I'm not complaining about that because I'm thankful to have a job. What I'm complaining about is not seeing Trent. Since Monday, I have spent a total amount of maybe 2 1/2 hours with him. Today I saw him for 20 minutes. Brent is being super dad (again something to be extremely thankful for). He sends me pictures throughout the evening of what Trent is doing and a picture right before bedtime. It makes me happy to see my little guy but sad to be stuck at my office. I hope this project flies by! I guess the good thing is I will finally be forced to stop nursing Trent. {grin}

Review: True Blood Season 1

After reading all 10 (to-date) of the Southern Vampire books, I've been watching the show based on the books, True Blood. You'd have to live under a rock to have not at least heard of True Blood.

Synopsis: True Blood chronicles the backwoods Louisiana town of Bon Temps... where vampires have emerged from the coffin, and no longer need humans for their fix. Sookie Stackhouse works as a waitress at the local bar, Merlotte's. Though outwardly a typical young woman, she keeps a dangerous secret: she has the ability to hear the thoughts of others. Her situation is further complicated when the bar gets its first vampire patron - 173-year old vampire Bill Compton - and the two outsiders are immediately drawn to each other.

My thoughts: I enjoyed watching the series and can see how so many people have been sucked (ha ha) into it, but I think the books are way better (which is usually how I feel). Had I not read the books, I'm not sure I'd keep up with the show, but I'm interested to see if the series will keep following with the books...sorta. The first season has the same outline as the first book but many extra characters and plot lines. Overall, I really enjoy it but wouldn't trade the books for it!

Favorite character? Most definitely, Lafayette!!! He is awesome, hooka.

Has anybody else read the books vs. watched the show? If so, what do you think? How do they compare?

Stream of Consciousness

We're going out to eat tonight with a few friends for my birthday. Trent will be having his first overnight visit at Brent's parents' house. Yes, it's a little crazy that he hasn't spent a night away from me. No, I don't care. I wasn't ready. {grin} I'm not sure I'm ready now, but we're doing it anyway! I got $125 in gift cards to Starbucks for my birthday. Think I'm obsessed? Maybe! Laser hair removal = ouch but oh so worth it! Lots of cute pics of Trent but a lazy mom who doesn't want to upload them. Happy weekend!

Bummer

The BIG 3-0!!

I'm 30 today. Whoa. It seems like such an adult age, and most of the time, I don't feel like an adult. I've had a job for 7 years, been married for almost 6, have a mortgage, am a mama...and still don't quite feel like an adult. Silly, huh? A lot of people seem to dread 30, but I'm excited! Every year life seems to get better, so I really can't wait to see what the future holds.

As for my immediate future, as in TODAY, I'm going to be enjoying...

a Venti Chai latte (non-fat, no water please)...I only get a Venti once a year - ha,
a pedicure with my wonderful sis,
Mexican food with my lovely family,
and ice cream!!!

Hmmm...maybe I'm not quite so grown-up after all (regardless of what the age - and gray hairs - say)?? {grin}

Some of My Faves!!

We got our proofs! Even with our day cut short, we still got some great shots!! As background, the little baseball uniform that Trent is wearing in some of the pictures is one that all the Gurley boys (Brent's brother, Brent, Brent's nephew) have worn for their 1 year pictures, so Trent had to continue the tradition. {grin} There are lots more that both Brent and I like, but these jumped out at me first. Thanks for the help picking outfits, I love how the colors looked together!

A Mommy Moment

Yesterday, I had one of those moments as a Mommy that I don't want to forget. Trent ran fever for 4 or 5 days the week before last, finally stopped running fever and was healthy for only 4 days before he started having his 'tummy issues'. With said 'tummy issues' he wouldn't eat much (understandably). I was chasing him around the house with Pedialyte trying to get him to drink (so fun, let me tell you). He was doing much better yesterday when I tried to feed him dinner. My son is a terribly picky eater - he wants to eat ALL carbs and won't even try any fruit (although he will eat some veggies). I FINALLY got him to eat half a banana yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!! He was so adorable - I let him hold the banana and every time he took a bite I would cheer for him. I think he ate more for the cheers than the food, but whatever works. I was so happy I teared up. Probably boring/silly to anyone else, but to me, priceless!

Britney, Britney, Britney

You can't see her face, but I would bet money this is Britney. It just looks like her, no? But seriously... What is going on with her? How does she end up leaving the house looking like this? If this is what hundreds of millions of dollars buys you (totally bat-sh*t crazy), I'll stay in my middle class suburbs thankyouverymuch. I only have one phrase to describe our once dear Brit-Brit. HOT. MESS.
