Couldn't Fool You!

Yup! We are in San Francisco!! I missed a training on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in Dallas while on maternity leave, and I need to be certified on IFRS, so I got sent to San Francisco for the training. I know...such a hardship.

Today we hit up Alcatraz, which was so neat. We have tons of pictures, but frankly, I'm too tired to upload them. Trent was amazing (as usual) and looked precious in his skeleton onesie.

Tomorrow we are hitting up Sonoma to check out a few wineries...Zoloft be damned! ;)

Happy 4 Months, Trent!

No stats or normal growth pictures as we are out of town. We are going to the doctor next week, and I'll take Trent's monthly pictures when we get home. But here's another first - trying out our newest sling (a ZoloWear ring sling). Yes, I am slightly obsessed with babywearing and growing my collection of slings. I now have 4. I never did publish my babywearing post...but I think I still will...one of these days! Another clue to where we are...this church is right by our hotel.

Clues

As requested...some hints about where Trent is having his first vacation...

  • Trent will be in jail on Halloween...no one has ever successfully escaped
  • He could wear flowers in his hair...
  • Clang, clang, clang went the trolley!
  • We could eat seafood or Rice a Roni...
Any guesses?

What in the World?!?!

Or should I say WHERE in the world....are we?!?! I had to go somewhere for training, and of course Trent had to tag along (as I am his only food source - ha). My parents also came to help during the day as Trent's nannies. Any guesses?!?!

The Great Pumpkin

Patty had a Halloween party for babies yesterday, and of course, Trent HAD to be there!! Trent was a jack 'o lantern (His Nana made the costume over 25 years ago - of course Trent HAD to wear it). He wouldn't take a nap over there, so he wasn't super happy to be in his costume, but he certainly looked PRECIOUS!

The Great Pumpkin and The Sock Monkey
This picture absolutely cracks me up. Miles looks stoned, David looks goofy, Trent is p*ssed...too funny! The Gurleys {poor sleepy pumpkin}

My Blood Pressure CAN'T Take This

We are 'crying it out'. Dr. Ferber, I hate you. Okay, not really, the man is a genius...but when your baby is hoarse because he screamed so much before he finally gave in and went to sleep...that is hard for a mom to take. I know this is what Trent needs, and I know I'm not hurting him...but geez it's tough!! He got to where I fought him before every nap because he would start to fall asleep and then jerk himself awake and cry. Trent was a textbook case in Dr. Ferber's book, so we decided to give it a go. It's taken about 40 minutes both times he's gone down so far...but the point is he's gone down... I just hope I don't have a heart attack before this is all over. ;)

He Melts My Heart

This little stinker has started fighting all his naps...he will be SO exhausted and just refuses to go to sleep and decides to cry and cry and cry...but no matter how big of a stinker is...I still want to smother him in kisses.

Date Night

For our anniversary, Brent and I took our first date since Trent's birth. We went to Alamo to see 'Couples Retreat'. I LOVED it!! My parents came over and kept Trent. When we got home, there was a big surprise waiting for me - Brent had ordered roses and they arrived while we were gone. What a great first night out/anniversary, huh??

Oh Happy Day!

Shanni gave me my first award! :) I can't figure out how to post it onto my blog though...hmmm... Pictures to come later this afternoon of my most precious...trying to finish some work...blech!

K Dub

Not only is today mine and Brent's anniversary, but it's also Kristen's 27th birthday. Happy birthday to Trent's Godmother! We love you!!

FIVE

5 years ago today...

I felt beautiful.
My soon-to-be husband was so handsome.
I was really nervous...but excited.
I wanted everything to be perfect.

Looking back, I'd change a few things...but definitely NOT the groom! {grin}

Vegging With Dad

Trent and Brent were lazy bums one morning...if you consider getting up at 7:30 being lazy! {grin}

Trent has found his feet and likes to grab them. I can't wait for him to put them in his mouth!!

This Shhhh Is Bananas

Miles loves to break in Trent's toys. His first tooth has broken through, so I guess he decided he'd eat himself a banana!

Rollin'

Uncle David and Aunt Patty came over. Uncle David helped Trent roll over for the first time. Trent has been trying to get himself over for DAYS and DAYS and finally can do it. It is so amazing to watch him try to figure things out - seeing him learn new things on a day-to-day basis is the neatest!!

Toes

Let's see how Trent measures up to his daddy....hmmm....he still has a little growing to do!

Work

Work is a 4-letter word. I went to it yesterday. BOO! I am so fortunate in my job and the arrangement I have for the next few months...but it totally blows to have to work. I only have to actually show up at my client 1 day a week and can work from home the rest of the week and will use my PTO for the time I don't work, so I am totally blessed...but it was still hard to leave yesterday. My FMIL (Fabulous Mother-in-law) will be taking care of Trent, so I know he's in great hands...but I still hated to go. {I only cried a little bit.}

Postpartum Progress

To give the full impact of my progress, I have to share a little bit of background information. When Trent was first born, I would try to nap during the day - either when he was napping or when family was over helping. It did NOT go well. I would usually just lay there in bed crying feeling extremely anxious; it felt like what I imagine a panic attack feels like. I finally stopped attempting to nap even when I was exhausted. A few weeks ago, I was clearing out some pamphlets we received at the hospital. One was all about the different types of postpartum. Under the topic of postpartum anxiety, the first symptom was 'Inability to sleep when the baby sleeps'...hmmm...could that be describing me??? Well, on Saturday, Brent suggested that I lay down and nap on the couch while Trent was napping in his crib (we have had much success in the sleep department with him lately). I almost didn't even try but then decided to go for it. Guess what?!?! I TOOK A NAP!!! I know that might seem insignificant to some people, but it felt like such a huge milestone to me. :)

P.S. - I took a TON of pictures this weekend, so as soon as I can find my cord, you will see some super fun shots. I'm sure you're all waiting with bated breath.

Grow Baby Grow - 3 Months

September 30 was Trent's 3 month birthday. He celebrated by getting his first cold the day before, so it's been a sad few days around our house. For 2 nights he would only sleep on me, so I haven't gotten much sleep, but he's doing better, so that's all that matters. We went to the doctor for his cold, so we got his weight. 14 pounds, 6 ounces!! :) He's growing so fast!!
