All the Gobbles: A Thanksgiving Recap

Man! We had a great lllooonnnggg weekend and enjoyed lots of food, family time, and fun.

I looked back at my post from last year, and our week went pretty much like that. Tuesday was a feast at school {for Drew this time}, no school Wednesday {I went to the eye doctor and had my blood work while the kids hung with the in-laws...new glasses coming soon, yay!}. Thursday was lunch at Brent's Nannie's house, Friday we hung out at home {and had Miles spend the night}, Saturday we were at my uncle's house, and today was church and bumming around!

I already shared this pic, but who cares! Commemorating Thanksgiving day.

Drew's first time skipping a nap resulted in her falling asleep on the floor at 4:15.
I let her sleep for about 45 minutes, so precious.

The kids played so good with the other cousins at Nannie's house. One of Brent's cousins has an almost 14-year-old daughter, and I think we might have found a babysitter. The kids couldn't get enough of her!

Brent and I finished off Thursday night with a drink. We deserved it!
{Brent's mom gave us these glasses of hers with a 'G' on them. I love them!}

This cracked me up. Both drawing, both sitting the same, both topless.
#siblings #twinsies

All 5 stinkers at Patty's when we went to pick-up Miles.

They might be 6.5 years old, but they love to play babies.
Can't wait to show these to future girlfriends!

The boys had a great sleepover, and Drew loved having her cousin here.

At my uncle's house, Trent found {and loved} this lizard.
We had to take it home. Unfortunately, it 'escaped'.

Patty and I thought the babies wouldn't sleep, so we set them up with a movie.
They needed to at least chill for a bit - they were both very cranky! #snuggles

We've been talking about having a Family Movie Night for a while and finally did it tonight. We watched Toy Story.

Where's Drew?

Watching Curious George on the iPad by herself. So much for 'family' movie night!

Got one all together! Drew said 'Don't squish me!'

And with that...Happy Thanksgiving!

Five on Friday: Get Your Gobble On

ONE

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a great day. We ate too much food and enjoyed time with Brent's family. I got a picture of us all...but it wasn't one you'd consider good, ha.

Gobblin' till we're wobblin'

TWO

I bought the Old Navy Rockstar Jeans a few weeks ago, and I'm in love. They fit so well and are so comfy. They're majorly on sale right now, so I foresee some cyber shopping in my future to score another pair or two.

THREE

Does anyone else watch Fixer Upper? I am obsessed and can't wait for the new season that starts December 1. Trent loves it too and we sometimes will watch an episode together on Netflix. {Brent is actually the one who introduced me to the show, ha.} I also want to hit up their store in Waco {just over an hour away}. Anyone up for a road trip?!

FOUR

I had bloodwork done Wednesday to test me for the MTHFR gene mutation. Trent had to get it from somewhere and based on some of the signs of it, signs point to me likely being the culprit. I am going to be honest with y'all here - it might sound weird, but I really hope it's me, and I'll be very disappointed if it isn't. Both my OB and Trent's doc {who is now mine and Drew's doc as well} think my history of post-partum and having an emotional nature point to it being me, and I'm excited that it might be and that hopefully treatment could right those things... I should know next week!

FIVE

Our trip to NYC is in just over a week, and I'm a little panicky about what I'm going to wear there. I don't like winter and my winter wardrobe leaves a lot to be desired. Since it will likely be 15-20* cooler {if not more}, I need to figure it out...and fast! Anyone want to loan me some fleece leggings? {grin}

While Daddy's Away...

Brent left early Friday morning for a 4-day hunting trip. Knowing it would be me and the kids for several days, I knew we'd want to stay busy!

Friday, Trent had his first field trip, and I went along. He was so cute all day. We went to a planetarium and then to a park. He has some buddies that he really likes and had so much fun.

Lining up to watch a science movie.

I didn't get any pictures at the park - I wish I had. The kids just ran and ran and ran - it was awesome! The weather was perfect on Friday, and knowing a cold front was going to come in, made us enjoy it all that much more!

Reading on the way home. Sweet boy!

 On Fridays, we can stay after school and play on the playground. I love doing this because the kids get more sunshine, fresh air, exercise, and fun with their friends, and I get to socialize with other parents. We stayed for about 2.5 hours and had a blast!

Hitching a ride with her bestie {the trikes at school are all a little big for my tiny girl}

Saturday morning there was a fundraiser for school at Barnes & Noble. There were crafts and cookie decorating. Trent played with Legos and got picked up early by my father-in-law for a birthday party for Brent's niece that was scheduled for Drew's naptime. So Drew decorated alone.

In sprinkle heaven

Do I have something on my face?

After the fundraiser, I brought Drew home for her nap. She chose to sleep in the guest room on our old mattress that has no sheets on it. Whatever - she went straight to sleep!

I woke her up early to go get Bubba and to spend time with Brent's family. The kids on that side of the family are 20, 12, and 10, so they have fun playing together, but Drew is a little shier around them.

Sunday we skipped church to hit up the grocery store. I absolutely love taking both kids to the grocery store...said no mom ever. {grin}

Obsessed with chapstick {that she calls lipstick}.
She has destroyed 2 tubes of my Burt's Bees, so Brent gave her his Carmex.
I took this picture for Brent because he was missing it, ha!

When we got home, we decided to start decorating for Christmas! I turned on carols, and Trent helped for all of 6 minutes - even though he was the one really excited in the first place. Drew loved helping me decorate - I foresee us having a lot of fun through the years!

Trying to untangle/wrap up/wear as jewelry/something the garland beads.
{Do you love how her underwear stick out over her pant and her shirt is too short?}

T's interest level...ZERO.

The tree and stockings! {Trent did organize the stockings by birthday, so sweet}
Now we just need some presents!

I ended Sunday with my movie and Babs babysat for a bit. I came home in time to do bedtime {Drew was extra difficult...threenager...sigh.} and enjoy some wine!

I'd say we survived did just fine while Daddy was away! As they get older it gets to be a lot more fun and a lot less work!

Double Movie Review: Spotlight & Mockingjay Part 2

I hit up both movies this weekend that I said I would. Brent's been hunting for a few days, so I saw Spotlight Thursday evening before he left with Allison {because it is said to be an early prediction for the Oscars} and then Mockingjay Part 2 this evening.

Plot: The true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to the core.

Review: Allison and I both agreed this is setting the bar really high for potential Best Picture nominations. The movie was so good - intense and heart-breaking, plot twists and surprises. It was hard to watch as a mother and a Christian, but it is really a very important story to tell and see. We also decided to expand on our Oscar challenge and also try to cover the Best Actor and Actress categories. Eek! Should be fun but challenging!

Plot: As the war of Panem escalates to the destruction of other districts by the Capitol, Katniss Everdeen, the reluctant leader of the rebellion, most bring together an army against President Snow, while all she holds dear hangs in the balance.

Review: A great ending to this movie series. I was on the edge of my seat for about half the movie {partially because it's been so long since I read the books, I couldn't remember when the scary stuff was going to happen}. I continue to love Jennifer Lawrence, and she was fantastic in this one. Highly entertaining!

See anything good lately?

Currently

Current Book

The 2nd book in the Cormoran Strike series by J.K. Rowling's pseudonym. I picked the first one, The Cuckoo's Calling, for the book challenge. It's no Harry Potter, but I'm enjoying them!

Current Song

Really enjoying this song by Sam Hunt. Apparently Kenny Chesney recorded it a few years ago, but I hadn't heard it before. Country music is pretty disappointing these days, but this is good!

Current TV Show

Brent and I finally started Breaking Bad this week!

Current Drink

Super fun drink right now - my 'get well' tea because my sinuses are all messed up!
It's a mix of hot water, raw honey, apple cider vinegar, and essential oils. Yum!

Current Shame-Inducing Pleasure

This guy is tempting me too much lately. :/

Current Outfit

Too lazy to take a picture today, but I'm wearing a black maxi skirt and a tee. Pretty much my uniform. I love a good maxi skirt!

Current Celebrity Crush

Did you see the news that these ladies are touring again? I am dying!
It must be after my blog post about having them over for dinner, right?
Also this post. Love it. All the feels. {grin}

Current Mood

Other than the irritation at the sinuses {that can't get their act together this fall} feeling pretty content! Trent got some new Nerf guns this weekend, so there have been a lot of family Nerf battles in the house, and I love some good family time!

Current Anticipation

Too many to list!
Thanksgiving!
Decorating our new home for our first Christmas here!
Christmas lights outside!
Christmas music on Pandora!
A trip to NYC!
I might explode!

Current Film

Hitting up both Spotlight and Mockingjay Part 2 in the next few days!

Current Picture

Not the clearest {saved from FB} but I am dying over our sneak peek pics!
I think the stressing over the outfits was worth it!

Life Lately

We survived our family photos and daresay had some success! We got a couple of sneak peaks last night, and I LOVE what I've seen. I'm sure you're all dying to know what outfits we picked. Brent apparently hated the shirt I picked for him, so we went with #5 but Brent wore a different shirt, ha!

So aside from family pictures, what have we been up to? I'm so glad you asked!

She's not spoiled with Daddy's iPad, is she?

Because it's totally normal to lay on the floor/climb over your sibling before haircuts.

I think they look SO alike here with their not impressed faces.
Also, they put glitter in Drew's hair and it took 5 days to get out. #neveragain

He sleeps so weird.

Date night! And testing out new lipstick.

Neighbor ladies I love!

Happy birthday to this beautiful friend!

She fell asleep 'reading'...just like her mama.

Not smiling because he's watching TV but doesn't he look so cute in his tie?

So that's what's been going on with us! Just loving life!!!
