Grow Baby Grow - 11 Months

Note: No baby was harmed in the taking of these photos. {grin}

When your child is 11 months old, they don't always do what you want. Okay, they NEVER do what you want! Here's our attempt at growth pictures.

Sitting with his Sound of Music goat
No, I didn't cut his hair, it's just brushed back fresh from the bath.

And for the 2nd month in a row, Trent decided he didn't want to take his monkey picture...

I probably sound like a broken record, but we are having a blast playing with him!
Right now, Trent:
-is starting to eat people food (SSSLLLOOOWWWLLLYYY)
-got his 8th tooth
-understands some sign language (and can sign 'more' - so cute)
-is walking!!!
-can throw a tantrum like no other when he doesn't get his way
-claps and gets so excited when we clap for him
-is busy, busy, busy!!!

Gurley Golfing Gene

A year ago I would have titled this post 'The Next Tiger'...now, not so much. ;) But maybe we could say 'The Next Gurley Golfer'?? His daddy had his 2nd hole-in-one last week, and we both talk about how fun it will be to take Trent to the course with Daddy next summer, so I imagine the 'Gurley golfing gene' will go on...

You Might Be a Redneck if...

Your Pops gives you beer at 11 months old
You spend your day playing washers
You play inside the keg trashcan

You eat cookie cake for dinner

The boys had a great time at sloshball this year...but our redneck side is showing just a little bit!

It's Official!

We have a walker! ..... Well, maybe I'm jumping the gun just a little bit, but Trent is definitely moving around on his feet. He took his first step on Brent's birthday, but we weren't sure if it was just a fluke. Every day since then he's taken at least 1 step, getting up to 2 and 3 steps at a time. Today, he took a bunch of steps several times! His Papa got him to walk probably 20 steps!!! I can't believe my baby is starting to walk. Time flies when you're having fun!! {grin}

Bath Time

I hope you aren't seeing these pictures and thinking 'Geez, enough with the naked pictures!' I always make sure to NOT post the pictures that show his private parts. In fact, I usually don't even take pictures where you can see his privates. I'm a good mother that way. {Trent might not agree with that when he's 16...we'll see!} Moving on. He has started taking baths in the real tub (not his cute little duck tub or the sink anymore) and really enjoys it!

New Friend

Trent met this little boy in his Nana's yard yesterday and just had to tell him hi! Seriously - does this not just make you go 'Awwww!'

Family Fun Day

The main thing I was excited about for Family Fun Day was the petting zoo! I was curious if the boys would like the animals or be scared. Trent's only been around Auntie K Dub's puppy (okay...not a puppy...a black lab - ha!) Mitch and they definitely have a love affair with each other. But farm animals? I wasn't sure.

Well, the boys LOVED the animals! I couldn't believe Trent picked up that chicken. She (he?) started squaking like crazy, and I had to grab it out of Trent's hand. He was unfazed. :)

AND he did ride the pony!
Miles too!
The boys really had a good time, and I enjoyed showing off Trent's school to my family.

Pre-Family Fun Day

Pops, Babs, Aunt Patty and cousin Miles came to Family Fun Day. We had to play for a little bit before we went to the party at Trent's school.

I know I sound like a broken record, but it is so much fun watching the boys grow up together. {grin}

Birthday Treats

I gave Brent 30 presents for his 30th birthday. Everything from lottery tickets to specialty beers to candy...just lots of stuff. It is HARD to come up with 30 presents. I mean, I came up with a lot of ideas, but some were pricey and x 30 presents...so it took me a while to get it all together.

All the presents!

Father and son
My boys (Seriously - can you top that grin?)

Brent said he had a great day - we just hung out as a family tonight. The big party will be this weekend - SLOSHBALL!!!!

Brent is 30!!!

Today my sweetie turns 30! I have some surprises planned for him that I don't want to spoil just yet...but let's just say our dining room table was overflowing with presents for the Mr. I will definitely post tomorrow with a full report. Happy birthday, Brent!!! I love you. And if you have a second, send him a message - he acts tough but loves birthday wishes. Who doesn't though? {grin}

Growing Up!!

Eating at the table with Mom and Dad. When did he get so big? Not that I'm complaining because I am loving every minute! Trent really is SO much fun these days.

I'm Tired

I'm tired of pumping. I finally feel confident that I have an abundance of frozen milk to last until Trent is 1. I know I won't stop just yet, but I'm anxious to stop. It's just gotten old. I'm so proud that I've made it this far and will be able to go his full first year on breast milk alone. {Disclaimer: No judgment to other mothers who didn't. Just happy with myself.} But now I'm nervous about how to actually go about the process. I guess I'll just start pumping for less and less time each time that I do pump??? I'll still nurse morning and night (don't even want to think about weaning yet), but how will I prevent clogs while eliminating the pumping? EEK! Isn't it amazing how there's ALWAYS a new question/worry with parenting?!?! Good thing babies are so dang cute!

Little Helper

What is the likelihood that this little boy will help with these chores when he's a teenager? I might have to use these pictures to show him which chores he 'chose'. You should also see him with the vacuum - he wants to help me push it. P.R.E.C.I.O.U.S.

My First Mother's Day

I don't have any pictures to share (yet) of my first Mother's Day, but it was a great day. My sister had us over for dinner, and the boys had a great time playing together. The older they get the more they interact, and it is hysterical. I hope all the moms and moms-to-be had a great day with family! I leave you with a little joke from my sister. I don't always want to be a sentimental sap! :)

Cup of Tea

One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old. Someone had given me a little 'tea set' as a gift and it was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought him a little cup of 'tea', which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my Mom came home. My Dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was 'just the cutest thing!' My Mom waited, and sure enough, here I come down the hall with a cup of tea for Daddy and she watches him drink it up.

Then she says (as only a mother would know): ‘Did it ever occur to you that the only place she can reach water is the toilet?’

Dads don't think like Moms do.

I Feel Like Buttah

Ahhhh....that's the sound of someone who's just had a 2 HOUR massage. Kristen and I went to the Milk + Honey spa today to finally use our Valentine's Day gifts from our hubbies. HEAVEN. Brent got bonus points since I did this all over Mother's Day weekend (lucky him). I would highly, highly recommend Milk + Honey. We each got a 2 hour massage, a facial and a manicure. And we've decided we need this every year. Start saving now, boys!! {grin}

Review: Courtyard Hounds

I LOVE The Dixie Chicks. Like LOVE them. So I was super excited to hear Martie and Emily were releasing an album as a duo. Results of the Chicks without Natalie? Meh. The whole time I just kept thinking it was good but something was missing. Maybe their lead singer?? Natalie has pipes. Emily as the lead singer kind of sounds like a backup singer with no one to back up. I hope to see them in concert, so I'm still pumped for any new material from these ladies, but they're definitely no replacement for my Chicks! Anyone else check out Courtyard Hounds? Thoughts?

When You Let Your Baby 'Run' Around Naked...

...you're bound to have some accidents. Trent has peed on our carpet more times than I can count. But we're planning on pulling it up soon, so I didn't really care too much. Well, we finally had a BIG accident.

We went out to eat Friday night with our friends, Ryan, Rhonda and Macey. We were out late for Trent, so when we got home I was rushing to get him into bed. I got his diaper off and of course, he flipped and was off to the races. Then 'it' happened...on the floor... I grabbed Trent to keep him out of his mess, and then 'it' happened on my arm...and then the floor again...twice... I just started laughing because really what else can you do? At first, Brent didn't want to help me because he says it's my fault since I don't put clothes on him. I quickly pointed out that we needed to keep our son out of the mess, so he helped me get the baby to the bathroom. 'It' happened down my shirt and then in the bathtub...several more times. It took us forever to get Trent cleaned and into pajamas. But such a memorable moment. I decided {against my urges} to not take any pictures...I'm sure that makes all my readers happy!
