MckFamily Request

So I don't normally do this, but what they hey...if you're reading my blog, you are probably used to my randomness. My favorite blog in the WORLD is My Charming Kids, and MckMama is just a wonderful blogger, woman, mother, photographer, etc. I want to be her when I grow up (yes, I know I'm 28, married, have a mortgage and am expecting a child)!! Her blog is an inspiration to me, and her baby boy is VERY sick (after surviving a life-threatening heart condition). If you have it in you, check out her blog and maybe say a prayer for Stellan.

Baby News

We got the results of our first round of tests on the baby today. NEGATIVE for Downs Syndrome and Trisomy 18!!!!!!!!!!! I've heard this test can result in some false positives for Downs, so I was a little bit nervous, but it looks like we're growing okay. {grin}

Christmas Review

So it sounds like everyone I've talked to had a wonderful Christmas! So did the Gurleys, it was a pretty standard Christmas for us. We spent Christmas Eve at Brent's Nannie's house with his Mom's family, then spent the night at my parents' house (3 miles from our own comfortable bed), opened presents with my parents, sister and brother-in-law, then had lunch at Threadgill's (breaking our 10+ year streak at Katz's). Later that afternoon, we went to Brent's parents' house for Christmas with his parents, brother, nephew, and brother's new girlfriend and her 2 kids. Overall it was a busy day but enjoyable as always. We were joking about how different it will be next year, especially at my parents' house - 1 baby will probably be crawling! I wonder where we'll all fit?!?!

I only have the pictures my mom took, so here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Brent got ANOTHER beer sign for the garage. Is everyone jealous?

Our annual lunch picture. Hagan, we missed you! Maybe next year with your little guy. :)
P.S. - Can everyone please end their blog vacations? I need some fun pictures and stories while I'm working!!

First Milestone

Guess who is officially (at least according to What to Expect) in their 2nd trimester?? Me!! We've had 2 doctors appointments and all signs have pointed to things being fine with our baby, but it's still nice to make it through the 1st trimester. Now if the nausea (and puking) will just recognize this fact...

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I have a few pictures and stories to share, but I need a nap! (Where is all this energy I'm supposed to have in the 2nd trimester??)

Christmas for the Ladies!!

So I am supposed to be working, but I decided to take a break and share the fun dinner my girlfriend, Lauren, threw for a group of ladies on Friday night. We had delicious fondue with bread, apples, veggies (yum) and all sorts of other snacks. More fun than that was just hanging out with some great girls and enjoying the holiday season together.

Action shot of everyone around the table.

Lauren and Sarah enjoying chocolate covered pretzels (with watermelon and blue raspberry sprinkles)!

Now here's a little 'Where's Waldo?' game...with a twist. Can anyone guess which drink is mine? I thought the table was too hilarious with all the wine and my sad little Chai (delicious as it is).
It's so crazy (but in a good way) thinking that this time next year, my baby will be enjoying his or her (I hate calling a baby 'it') first Christmas, I am SO looking forward to that!!

Our Trip to Puerto Vallarta

We went to Puerto Vallarta for 5 days last week and had an amazing time. We went with 3 other couples: Ryan & Rhonda, Derek & Dez, and Kelby & Karin. Yes, Brent and I quickly figured out our names ruined the 'same letter' naming scheme of the other couples. Our trip consisted of lots of time on the beach (with appropriate and often sunscreen application, so don't worry Mom) and at the pool with lots of free drinks (virgin ones for me, of course) and TONS of delicious food - you gotta love an all-inclusive. We stayed at Dreams and loved every minute of it! It was hard to come home, but knowing that Christmas is around the corner (and I'm not done with my shopping) helped. A few pics below highlight some of the best moments. Enjoy!

Everyone together on the beach, a beautiful sunset, releasing sea turtles, holding a baby monkey, and my sweetie and me before dinner one night. PV, I miss you and can't wait to come back!!

What's Happenin', Hot Stuff?

So now that this blog is finally underway, I figured there's lots to share! My December has been totally crazy but so much fun. I guess the most important thing to share goes back further than December...WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!! We found out October 23 and had our latest appointment this past Thursday. I've been feeling pretty good, just the typical stuff - total exhaustion and nausea. :) Cute, huh? My sister is expecting as well, and it's a lot of fun going through this together. She's the other baby due date on my side bar, Patty's baby. Here's her 30 week picture (I torture her by taking pictures, but one day she'll be happy I took them).
This month I have been in Raleigh visiting my BFF, Kristen. We didn't take any 'good' pictures, but she got a cute one of me with my favorite puppy (her dog), Mitch. Can you tell he missed me?
Then I went to Orlando for work...the day after I got home from Orlando, Brent and I packed up and flew to Puerto Vallarta with 3 other couples (Ryan and Rhonda, Derek and Dez, and Kelby and Karen). I have way too many fun pictures from there to just post one, so I'll save that for another post. This one is long enough as it is!!
