NOLA Trip Planning

This time next week, we'll be in New Orleans! I am so excited about our trip.

I've technically been to NOLA one other time, but I don't think a trip that lasts less than 24 hours, is for work, and is during the first trimester of a pregnancy where you are trying so hard not to puke on the auditors you flew in to meet counts as a true trip.

We'll be 1 couple out of 6 on the trip, and there's been about...hmmm...scientific estimate here...zero percent planning done. We're definitely not the type of people to go into a trip with every minute planned out. But I'd like a rough idea of a few things that would be worth doing.

Our hotel is in the French Quarter, so I know we'll walk around there and hit up the French Market {although I'm not really sure what it is}. I know we'll walk around {and drink} on Bourbon Street.

I have heard that we need to go to Cafe Du Monde for beignets. Considering I haven't had sugar or bread for 26 days, this sounds AH-MAZING. And we'll eat lots of other amazing food {but from where?}.

I want to walk around the Garden District and see the historic homes.

So for anyone who has been before - what else should we do? What are the best restaurants and things to see?  Would love to get some advice from anyone!
