First Dentist Visit

In line with the fact that we start speech therapy next week, I decided to get my act in gear and get Trent in to the dentist (for the FIRST time, momfail much?).  A lifelong friend (Hi Cele!!) who is an orthodontist emailed me after I posted about going to therapy and gave me her opinion about his bite (very inline with what I said) and also gave me an AMAZING recommendation for a pediatric dentist.  The dentist agreed about his bite (calling it an 'open bite') and said the best thing at his age was the speech therapy (momwin!), so I'm really excited for next week.  AND Trent did great at the appointment!  He only cried a little at the end (which is when this pregnant mama had to get in the chair with him) - let them take the xrays and clean his teeth and look around in there.  So proud!

And seriously?  Couldn't you die from this dose of cuteness?

Funny - it is insurance time at work & I was just looking at pediatric dentists yesterday. Sounds like everything is working out - thanks to Trent's awesome Mom! - Allison

Good Job! My boys love going to the dentist and Jacob just had a cavity filled and said it was fun?? I think the movie totally distracted him. :)

Maybe I should try going to a pediatric dentist. I'm definitely a little kid about going to the dentist. Trent looks much braver than me!

What did the dentist say about Trent's bite? Open bites can be caused by improper alignment of the molars, an imbalance of the upper and lower jaw, missing lower teeth, or a combination of all of these. Thumb sucking can also exacerbate or cause this condition. Well, it's quite common for kids to cry during their first dental visit. After all, crying is their normal reaction to things that are unfamiliar or those that cause them to panic. :)
