August 2017 Goals

Man, coming back to do monthly goals turned out to be a harder challenge than I thought it would be! Here's how I did on July's goals:

1. Whole 30 Round 3 - let's just say: hahahaha - I made it about a day and a half and realized I didn't really want to do it. At a minimum, you really have to want to do a whole 30 for it to be successful. My doctor wants me to go dairy-free and gluten-free for a little bit because I'm having some foot pain she thinks might be inflammation, so I know I will try again...soon...ish. {grin}
2. Exercise 3 times per Week - I think I did this all weeks except 1! Now the majority of this was just walking around the neighborhood, but it was movement!
3. Intentional about Picking Up - What I confirmed is once I sit down in the evening, I am done. So if I want to be successful at picking up, I have to get in a session BEFORE I sit down after the kids are in bed. I would say I had good days and bad days and the bad days made it hard the next day too.
4. Less Screen Time/More Reading - We definitely made some strides here, but I'd like to continue to decrease screen time.

1. 10,000 steps - I started wearing my FitBit again and have had days ranging from 4,000 steps to 12,000 steps. I want to hit 10,000 steps every day in August!

2. Make bed EVERY day! - I have probably made our bed less than twice a month our entire marriage. It is an easy task that makes a big difference in how a room looks, so I'd like to make this a habit!

3. Couch to 5K - Now that I've done a lot of walking, I'd like to turn this into jogging. I used to be able to run 3-5 miles without stopping, and even though I don't love running, it's an easy way to exercise. The 'couch to 5K' program is pretty manageable, so I'm going to give it a shot!

4. Trent's closet - I cleaned both of the girls' closets in July, but Trent's is the one that really needs it. He is my mini-me in so many ways and being messy is one of them FOR SURE. His closet just needs a major going through - he tends to just throw/shove stuff in there, so it is anybody's guess as to what is actually hiding in there!

5. Upload pictures - I have most of our family pictures on Shutterfly but want to switch to Amazon prime. My whole life is on my laptop and if it were to get stolen, I would be devastated if I lost any pictures. I've been slowly working on this for a few weeks and almost done with 2010.

6. Finish girls' dresses - My mother-in-law and I started sewing on the girls' matching dresses Sunday, and they are going to be sew cute {see what I did there?}! I want to get them finished soon so they can wear them before it gets cool. It's hilarious to say that since it was 107 one day last week, ha.

7. For real, create a will - This is so embarrassing. I researched downloading some software when Paige was born and never did it. I am sure it's probably best to go to a lawyer, but I just don't want to spend that money, so I think I am going to download Quicken and I just need to get this done!

Way back when I thought deloitte had a legal thing you could pay into (like $8/paycheck) and it gave you access to all sorts of lawyers for "free." Maybe not deloitte but I thought I've had it at every single company I've worked for. We only took advantage of it at my last company The advice from coworkers was to pay in for one year then get everything done in one sitting that year (will, power of attorney, health care power of attorney, etc). We did it in one swoop and now it's done. We will need to update it later but it's way easier when you have the base sorted out. We could have tried it ourselves but it was way better to have a specialist in the field walk us through it (and my husband is a lawyer!)

I'm so pitifully behind on reading blogs AGAIN! Anyway, I just wanted to say these are great goals and I'm with you on making the bed. I really need to get better about that!
