I hit up both movies this weekend that I said I would. Brent's been hunting for a few days, so I saw Spotlight Thursday evening before he left with Allison {because it is said to be an early prediction for the Oscars} and then Mockingjay Part 2 this evening.
Plot: The true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to the core.
Review: Allison and I both agreed this is setting the bar really high for potential Best Picture nominations. The movie was so good - intense and heart-breaking, plot twists and surprises. It was hard to watch as a mother and a Christian, but it is really a very important story to tell and see. We also decided to expand on our Oscar challenge and also try to cover the Best Actor and Actress categories. Eek! Should be fun but challenging!
Plot: As the war of Panem escalates to the destruction of other districts by the Capitol, Katniss Everdeen, the reluctant leader of the rebellion, most bring together an army against President Snow, while all she holds dear hangs in the balance.
Review: A great ending to this movie series. I was on the edge of my seat for about half the movie {partially because it's been so long since I read the books, I couldn't remember when the scary stuff was going to happen}. I continue to love Jennifer Lawrence, and she was fantastic in this one. Highly entertaining!
See anything good lately?

Thumbs up for Spotlight. A little ho hum on Mockingjay. Didn't like I couldn't remember anything from the books. It was fast paced enough that I guess it deserved two movies. Bring on the Oscars! - AP
I saw secret in their eyes with Julia Roberts on Sunday..it was good and the ending was not what I expected
I really want to see both of these, for very different reasons.
We took Chris's daughter to see The Good Dinosaur the other day. She loved it. He fell asleep. I was bored.
