To Tweet or Not To Tweet

Sometimes I think about using Twitter.  I used to think it would only be useful for 'normal' folks to read the tweets of 'famous' people.  But now I look at the tweets of lots of people and find myself thinking {often} things that would be funny to share but aren't quite blog worthy.  So I present a few things I would tweet if I did, in fact, tweet.
  • I saw a restaurant in my parents' hometown called 'The Cheesy Taco'.  I don't want to eat what they're serving.
  • 'The Cheesy Taco' used to be a gas station called '6 & 10'.  Can't have a 7-Eleven?  Have a '6 & 10'!!
  • Trent wanted to stop and get gas for the car.  I told him 'Mama has plenty of gas.'  HA!
  • It sure is fun to wash your sheets 2 days in a row b/c a certain toddler peed on your bed.
What do you think?  Should I tweet?

He's a Big Boy...and a Mommy Fail

Trent has never tried to climb out of his crib.  Before Friday night that is.  Then all of the sudden my son was a freaking monkey.  Saturday after his nap, Brent asked him to 'show Daddy' how he gets out of his bed.  Yup.  Scaled it.  Sunday we trekked in the 111 degree heat (yes, you read that correct...we live in hell) to Baby Earth to buy a bed rail to convert our big boy's {I swear I just had him yesterday, isn't he still a newborn??} crib.  Except...I bought the rail that ISN'T for toddler beds. #Mommyfail

Notice anything wrong?  Oh yes, he has no opening to get in and out of bed.

By the time I figured that out though it was too late to go back to the store.  So Monkey Boy was just going to have to sleep this way one night.

We got a wake-up call at 7:15 (although I was already awake cleaning my bathroom...yes you also read that correctly...I was CLEANING) when a certain toddler sauntered into our room.

Yup, he managed to get out without an opening.

Guess who is going shopping during lunch today?

Chillaxin'

Seriously.  This kid is awesome.

I'm going to try and maintain his carefree attitude when it hits 109 tomorrow.

Happy Friday!

Editor's Note: I tried to 'soften' the edges of this picture.  T is not 'exposed' but wanted to keep it that way! {grin}

Finally!

I've been so annoyed to not have a picture of all 3 of the kiddos together.  I mean seriously.  Blair will be FIVE months old soon.  {Nevermind the fact that my son usually hits her, pokes her, pulls her toes...something to make her cry anything we're together.}

Hopefully will get some more of these pictures from my mom!

Help! I've Fallen and I Can't CAN Get Up!

"Muffin-top", also known as "Dunlap Syndrome"is a generally pejorative slang term used to describe the phenomenon of overhanging flesh (fat) when it spills over the waistline of pants or skirts in a manner that resembles the top of a muffin spilling over its paper casing. {Courtesy Wikipedia}

I was doing SOOO good.  I was 5 pounds from my pre-baby weight.  And then it happened.  I fell off the wagon. I have put on a good 10 pounds this summer.  Sigh.  That's hard to admit.  Yes, I'm doing a boot camp.  But that isn't enough to remove the effects of chai lattes, Mexican food lunches, ice cream, more chai lattes...you get the picture.  Trent is TWO YEARS OLD.  This is past ridiculous.  But I'm recommitting myself TODAY!  Not sure yet on a few things - thinking about joining Weight Watchers, totally banning Starbucks from my life for a few pounds...we'll see.  Either way, I MEAN it!  These pounds have gotta go!

What I did today:

Here's hoping I can fit into my work pants by the time I actually need to be wearing pants again.  Please, fall, please get here really soon!  I honestly would rather be in dresses and cold than have 1 more day of this horrible heat. {grin}

Cookin'

What do you do when you buy the wrong flavor of hummus?

Why - you cook with it of course!

Trendy

Or not.

I am always slow to like new trends.

Fashion forward I am not.

I've just now started liking Tom's.

Maybe not quite ready to buy a pair, but I think they'll be perfect for the winter.

Awwww....winter....that sounds glorious!

Some cute pairs!

And look at these little boy Tom's.  How cute would Trent be in these?

Any of you like that?  What trend were you slow to embrace?

Sad Sack Reprieve: Sillies

My blog [and heart] have been heavy lately.  Between my mom's heart and my uncle's passing, I feel like I've been a real Debbie Downer.  So I wanted to keep the mood light today!
  • I scored 108 points on Words with Friends against Brent.  Coolest moment ever.  Until I realized I was still behind by 40 points.  Ugh.
  • Brent and I got into a big argument about cod liver oil.  Oh the ridiculousness of our discussions these days!  When is he going to accept that Mama knows best?
  • Ever heard of Fly Lady?  A website dedicated to helping you get organized and keeping your house clean.  Best part?  It's all about doing everything quickly!
  • Even if it's for a sad occasion, I am happy to see almost all of my cousins this weekend.  One of my cousin's is 37 weeks pregnant so she won't be traveling down from Dallas.
  • How am I going to reconcile chai lattes with a dairy-free lifestyle?  Still on the fence about how far I want to take DF/GF...  Anyone want to share what they do?
  • I'm reading 3 books right now and have 2 waiting for me at the library.  Sometimes I have trouble remembering the plot of the book I pick up!
  • It actually felt cooler this morning when I walked outside for boot camp.  For the first time in my life, I am SO excited about fall!
  • Trent refused to eat ONE blueberry to be able to eat some cake at my sister's last night.  He kept asking for 'Happy birthday', and when I would tell him he had to eat a blueberry (or strawberry or peach...you get the picture), he would say 'No'.  I've got my hands full with that one. {grin}

Uncle Butch

My Uncle Butch passed away last night.  He was diagnosed with cancer on Sunday.  Our family is in shock, but in true Lindemann fashion are pulling together to honor and remember the biggest brother of a brood of 7.  It is amazing to me to watch my mom and her siblings - the faith my grandparents gave them is just breathtaking, and I hope to be as strong someday.  My uncle had numerous physical ailments and knowing his body is healed and he's with his parents and my aunt who passed away many years ago does bring such peace.

WARNING: Serious Cuteness!

These panties - oh excuse me - underwear {I need to be manly} are just too cute!

I can't get over it!

Monkeys playing drums and guitars?  Perfect!

AND using shop vac attachments?  Heaven!

Until he tee-tee'd in them...  You gotta love potty training!

Hippie Chick

Yesterday, I had my first consultation with the homeopath from the seminar I attended a few weekends back.  I had such a great appointment with her, learned a lot, have a lot more I want to research, bought a lot of stuff (like whoa a lot), and got quite a few sarcastic 'hippie' comments from the hubs.
  • We're in the process of going {mostly} gluten free and dairy free.  Trent loves coconut milk, and I like both coconut and almond milk.  I heard there's a coconut milk yogurt that I'm going to seek out; I'm kind of concerned about cheese...  Essentially though, what I'm learning is that dairy and gluten are both so hard on your system that even without an intolerance/allergy it is still best to eliminate as much as possible.
  • I bought several vitamins/supplements to help boost T's immune system.  Being a daycare kid, I feel like he catches a lot of stuff, and if I can keep his system healthier overall, why not, right?
  • I also talked with Kaya about my struggles with post-partum anxiety.  {Can we just say I was a little mortified as I teared up while sharing some of my struggles?  Ugh - just such a horrible time of my life.}  She's recommended several supplements I take now to help with my overall brain/hormone health and other things we'll try as baby growing commences (still not anytime soon).
I'm super excited {and very overwhelmed} about this journey - I think overall it's going to be great changes for our family.  I just have to figure out how to make it all happen (and try to get my husband on-board).  Wish us luck!!

Movie Review: Crazy, Stupid, Love

Dena and I have birthdays 6 days apart.  This year we had a lunch date AND went to a movie.  We say 'Crazy, Stupid, Love'.

Synopsis: A father's life unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage his relationship with his children. {imdb.com}

Review: OMG.  Fantastic!  Dena and I were both laughing so hard throughout the movie.  The movie was a little bit romantic, a little bit comedy but perfect for girls and boys.  I totally think a girl would find the romantic side great and the guys would find the comedy enough to override the romance.  Ha!  There were a couple of unexpected twists that were so hilarious.  Plus?  Added bonus - Ryan Gosling looks amazing!  (Brent - don't hate.)

Boys Will Be Boys

Nature vs. nurture?  These 2 boys totally prove the 'nature' side of that theory.  Such boys!

Helping Pops dig in the garden and playing with cars

Tons of yardwork!
{Don't worry - that weedeater is broken!}

Fountains at The Domain!  Of course our boys lay in the water and drink it!

Don't worry too much about Baby Girl though - she's still getting lots of love!
{And she's getting a lot of chunk on her too!}

Project 52 - July Update

Decent month but definitely not very impressive.

25. Do something ‘Austin’-y. I realized I have done some things unique to Austin that I didn't really think about - I've eaten at 2 food trailers (yum!) AND I would totally consider Renegade Craft Fair!!

32. Go to 1 live concert. I was going to post pictures from the Randy Rogers show we went to...then I lost my cell phone.  Boo!  But I <3 <3 <3 Randy Rogers Band and the show was fantastic!

49. Don’t be so scared about having Trent spend the night other places. We stayed in Salado and at a house on Lake Buchanan with Trent, and he did great!

A Great Birthday!

I'm happy to report that 31 doesn't feel too different from 30! {grin}  I had a great, low-key day...which is exactly what I wanted.

I went shopping with my sister and enjoyed some Starbucks!

I ate cupcakes with my favorite boys!

{Singing Happy birthday!}

{Wondering why he can't have these every day...}

{Yum!}

I had a delicious dinner at Gloria's with some of my faves.

{Two lovely ladies}

I never seem to get pictures with my hubby, but I promise he's always around for the special days!

Thanks to everyone who made my day so wonderful!  If you sent a message to my iPhone and I didn't respond...it's because I lost it.  Boo!  But that's a story for another day!

Update on the Mama

Thank you so much for all the kind words and prayers!  It means so much to me and my family.  My mom was especially touched when I told her so many of her former students were praying for her.  She was able to go home Tuesday night after being in the hospital for several hours.  Her heart stayed in a-fib for over 4 hours, and it was one of her worst episodes.  The discharge nurse told her to call her doctor (duh) and to call an ambulance next time!  Mom was supposed to go see her heart doctor yesterday, but he had to cancel for an emergency surgery, so now she is back on the medicine that she does not like (it makes her feel terrible) and will be going to the doctor next week.  So we're just hoping for no episodes (or at least no bad ones!) and a solution soon!!

2 of my faves!

Prayer Request

My mom has always had an irregular heart beat.  Almost 3 years ago, she had an ablation to fix it.  It took...until this summer.  She's been having some spells this summer with a really fast and irregular heart beat.  Her heart doctor is stumped as to why the ablation worked for so long and stopped, and he has been trying to fix it with meds...and they haven't been working.  Today it was really bad, and I took her to the emergency room.  She's still there (with my dad), but we don't have any information.  When we were on our way to the hospital, she squeezed my hand and said 'Today is the first time I've been scared.'  My mom is so brave, so wonderful and so loved.  So I'm asking for prayers for my mom tonight.  That the doctors figure out what is wrong and can fix it.  That my dad is strong for her.  That she isn't scared anymore.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Stream of Consciousness

We had a busy and fun weekend!  I went to a 'Natural Medicine' class (Homeopathy 101 essentially) on Saturday with a co-worker through a local pharmacy.  It was AMAZING!  I feel like I just cracked open a door into something totally awesome!  I think Brent worries that I'm going to move us to a hemp farm and force us to make our own clothes. {grin}  I also went into my first natural grocery store and bought some products the homeopath recommended - again I think I'm freaking my poor hubby out a little!  Brent and I also went to see Randy Rogers Band on Friday night at Nutty Brown Cafe (more on that in a separate post).  I also started celebrating my birthday (it's this Friday for anyone still needing to shop for me - ha) which is always super fun.  I can't decide if I'm freaked out about turning 31.  I don't really think I am...I guess only time will tell!  I started DVRing reruns of 'Ghost Whisperer'.  Did you ever watch that show?  I totally believe in ghosts (and share a fascination of ghost stories with my mom and sis) and am having so much fun watching it.  So I guess this has turned into more of a weekend update. :)
