Layla Grace

Warning: This is a sad post (at least to me). I can't stop thinking about this little girl. I literally check their Twitter page every few hours, and I cry (more like sob) every time I look at it. In my living room. In my office at work. {Embarrassing.} I just don't get it. I know I never will. I'm sure Layla's mother would trade place with her in a heart beat. I would. I didn't understand unconditional love until I had Trent. I mean, I love my husband dearly, but would I die for him? I don't know. Probably not. {Gasp.} But I would die for Trent right now. Without question. There's just something about looking at his innocent face and wanting him to have a full life. And knowing I would do anything to give him that. But it's not always that simple. Sometimes we can't will things to change. I hope (and believe) something good will come from her short life. Celebrities are tweeting about her left and right, trying to raise money and awareness for Neuroblastoma. People's relationships with God are growing from reading their blog. 2 very wonderful things. But I know her mother would rather have her. I would. One last thing - while I have your attention - please don't forget to check in on and pray for baby Jordan. She is another precious baby girl fighting Neuroblastoma, and her mom is a lifelong family friend. Not to tell you what to do, but please remember both Layla and Jordan tonight and give your families an extra hug and kiss tonight.

Welcome Home!

Schuyler is on his break from his tour in Afghanistan. We are SO happy to have him home! He left when Trent was 9 days old, so this was their first meeting. Unfortunately, it was combined with the beginning of Trent's cold, so he wasn't the happiest of babies. We've been waiting to baptize Trent for Schuyler to be home, since he and Kristen will be his godparents, so I can't wait for this weekend. Kristen and I both cry anytime we talk about it. {grin}

How cute! Auntie K Dub, Uncle Sky and our little prince

Here's the update on Trent's cold: I took Trent to the doctor on Monday, since I wanted to make sure he didn't have RSV. (RSV is just a respiratory virus but like a really, really bad cold and can be extremely serious in premies and babies under 6 months old. It takes a long time to recover from and makes for unhappy babies.) He just has a bad cold and fluid on his ears, so our doctor prescribed ear drops to hopefully keep Trent from getting an ear infection. His parents are the King and Queen of ear infections, so we'll see... She had to clean out a big glob of wax (TMI?) too, so I can envision his toddler years being tons o' fun.

Ssshhh!

Don't tell Mom how much I like her WORK laptop! I don't think she'll notice all the drool. Do you?

He looks so ready to crawl, huh? He can make some progress but is super slow and can only go 5 or 10 feet before he's totally worn out. Can't wait to see him totally scooting all over the house. We bought a bunch of house proofing stuff this weekend to get ready. :)

Tuesday's Top 10 - TV Shows

I'm not sure if anyone finds this interesting or stupid, but I enjoy making my Top 10 lists and a few people play along sometimes, so I am going to keep going...for now. :) When I was thinking about my favorite shows, I decided to distinguish between current and all-time favorites. So this is my current favorites (still on-air shows). Next week, I'll do all-time faves!

10. CSI
9. Say Yes to the Dress
8. Modern Family
7. Ruby
6. Chuck
5. Cold Case
4. Ellen
3. The Office
2. The Biggest Loser
1. Law & Order: SVU

What about you? What am I missing out on?

Bandwagon

Central Texas has jumped on the 'really cold' winter bandwagon, and we got some honest-to-goodness REAL snow today!! I took a few pictures from our yard. Trent really wanted to be outside, but all he got was this picture. Hope everyone is staying safe, dry and warm!

Stream of Consciousness

One of my besties from college, Laura, had a baby girl on Wednesday, Mallory. It will probably be a while before I get to see her, but I'm super excited for them. Miles has RSV (breaks my heart) and had to go to the hospital on Friday. Trent might be getting sick, but I'm trying not to be paranoid. He threw up milk on me this morning. Good times. I hate Gisele: On labor "It didn't hurt in the slightest!" On her recover "The second day, I was walking, I was washing dishes, I was making pancakes." She is either a liar or a liar. Schuyler is on leave from Afghanistan! Oh happy day(s)!! Did anyone know oil-based paints are extremely difficult to get off skin? I didn't. Until tonight. I almost have 50 followers. Can't wait until 100!! :) Happy Sunday all!

Did You Have a Good Time?

You know you've had a fun dinner with friends when you do the below. Love you, honey!!

It's Walker Time

The backstory on this: We borrowed Miles' walker since he is now over it. :) Brent had given Trent a ball out of a vase and of course Trent threw it. So Brent was trying to get Trent to chase it.

If Only...

If only my dishes looked like this...I'd never complain about washing dishes again!

Stream of Consciousness

I am obsessed with 'The Office'. I'm almost through Season 2. I love Netflix. Trent was exposed to hand-foot-and-mouth disease this weekend. I hope he doesn't get sick. After pumping today, I spilled a ton of milk on my lap. I look like I peed in my pants and smelled like sour milk for the rest of the day. I'm glad I could come home and watch more of 'The Office'. Is it Friday yet?

Not Quite Right

Already breaking the rules...{grin}

P.S. - If you zoom in on the first pic, you can see his 2 itty bitty cutie patootie teeth!

Grow Baby Grow - 7 Months

It's the 'funny faces' edition. He looks so cute in these pics! {Of course when does he not look precious!}

At 7 months, you are:
  • Eating stage 1 baby food 1-2 times a day (You like squash, applesauce, carrots, sweet potatoes, pears. You tolerate peaches and do not like green beans.)
  • Sleeping on your stomach almost every time you go down. You are a pretty good sleeper (sometimes the days are just too exciting for you to take more than 30 minute naps) and have even gone 4 nights IN A ROW without needing me to come in your room.
  • wanting to crawl SO BAD but can't quite figure it out.
  • sitting up and playing without any assistance.
  • loving peek-a-boo and giggle constantly.

Random Musing

Trent has been randomly waking up crying. Not every night, just every once in a while. He is usually so upset that I need to nurse him to calm him down. That works like a charm everytime. {Sidebar - Isn't that so typical of a boy? Boobs in the face distract 'em every time.} Anyway, after putting him back in his crib, I told Brent 'When in doubt, whip it out.' Made me laugh, and I had to share.

Have some cute pictures and videos to share (of that boob loving little boy), but I have to get back to work right now. Something to look forward to on your Friday!

To Relieve 'A Case of the Mondays'

Picture this: I am currently sitting on the floor of my client's bathroom (it's a one-seater) pumping. The dress I'm wearing is not as stretchy as I thought, so I had to take it off to pump. That's right, I'm sitting on the floor without any clothes on. Luckily, I'm wearing a long sweater over my dress, so I have that on. So, right now, my total outfit is: knee-high boots, underwear, nursing bra, sweater. Trent owes me...big time.

On the wall in the women's restroom at another client: 'Women are like teabags. You never know how strong they are until you put them in hot water.' WHAT? Please do not compare me to a teabag. Thanks.

Happy Monday!
